Hawaii Island Adult Care, Inc. Since 1976 we have provided Hawai’i Island ‘ohana with high-quality adult day care and caregiver services to support aging in place.

Hawaii Island Adult Care, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit health and human services agency celebrating over forty years of service to kupuna and their families in East Hawaii. This agency operates two adult day care facilities for elders and challenged adults so they can continue living at home as long as possible.

❤️We are proud to announce that HIAC has continued partnership with Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Our Positive Approach to Care (PAC) Certified Trainer conducted three in-person training sessions for the staff in the Transitional Care Unit at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. During these sessions, staff received an educational presentation and engaged in hands-on activities, learning PAC skills that they can immediately apply with their patients.

We are truly grateful for the chance to strengthen our partnership with Hilo Benioff Medical Center, especially in advancing dementia care training within the community. The feedback from team members has been overwhelmingly positive; they’re feeling more empowered in their decision-making and showcasing creativity when redirecting participants. It’s inspiring to witness their deepened understanding of brain changes and the underlying causes of behaviors.

The impact of the PAC training has been nothing short of transformative for our daycare program. We’ve even seen a noteworthy decrease in incident reports during this period! Many staff members have shared that incorporating these skills has created a more positive and enjoyable work atmosphere.

PAC skills provide valuable education and insights that truly reshape how we perceive and approach dementia care. We are excited to continue sharing this important knowledge and collaborating with local partners and caregivers in our community! 👏❤️
