Waters Edge Pregnancy Care Center is collecting wrapped candy donations for the Homer 4th of July Parade! All donated candy will be handed out from our parade float as we celebrate with our community.

We are accepting donations now through July 3rd. Whether it’s a small bag or a bulk box, every donation helps us bring smiles to parade-goers of all ages!

✨ 6 Weeks Pregnant — What We Can See & What’s Happening in Early Development ✨

At around 6 weeks pregnant (based on LMP), this is typically the earliest point we are able to perform an ultrasound and begin to look for a heartbeat. Before this stage, it is often too early to reliably visualize development on ultrasound, even in a healthy pregnancy.

💓 Cardiac activity in pregnancy begins very early—around 3–4 weeks after conception—as the heart starts forming as a simple tube and begins electrical activity. By about 5.5–6.5 weeks gestation, that activity is often visible on ultrasound as a small flicker.

👶 What baby is doing at 6 weeks:
At this stage, baby is extremely small (about the size of a sweet pea), but major development is underway:

* The heart is forming and beginning to beat
* The brain and spinal cord (neural tube) are developing
* Tiny arm and leg buds are starting to appear
* The placenta is beginning to form
* Early facial structures are just beginning to develop

“Why do I need an ultrasound I already had a positive pregnancy test?”

A positive urine test is just step one. An ultrasound gives you three critical pieces of Information you need before making any decisions.
1. Location: confirms the pregnancy is in the uterus (ruling out ectopic pregnancy)
2. Viability: checks for a heartbeat
3. Gestational Age: tells you exactly how far along you are.

Knowledge is power. Whether you are excited or unsure and are considering your options it is important to get these three things confirmed first before you make a decision.

We offer limited obstetric ultrasounds performed by a registered nurse every Thursday.

Our Care Closet is here to help meet your family’s material needs 🤍

We offer gently used, donated items for moms, babies, and young children — all washed, organized, and free of stains. Available items may include:

• Maternity clothing
• Kids clothing from premie–5T
• Blankets, hats, and shoes
• Breastfeeding & pumping supplies
• Toys and books
• Limited furniture items such as cribs, bassinets, strollers, high chairs, carriers, and bouncers

Because all items are donated, availability may vary — but we would love to help however we can. Stop by and see us if your family could use extra support during this season. You are not alone. 💛

Volunteers have the opportunity to help clients complete paperwork, assist in the care closet, sit in during ultrasounds, providing encouragement, listen with compassion, and pray with clients during difficult and important moments in their lives.
