Mayor Rick Blangiardi was joined by Family Promise of Hawai`i to celebrate the grand opening of a critical lifeline to families with children experiencing homelessness. This three-story structure, named the ‘Ohana Navigation Center Wahiawā, provides temporary housing for up to 12 families, or 48 individuals, who would otherwise be without shelter.

This facility embodies our dedication to providing hope and support to families in need. By collaborating with Family Promise and other community partners, we are creating a pathway to stable, permanent housing for our most vulnerable citizens. We believe in the power of community, and this project is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together for the common good.

The entire Department of Community Services 'Ohana was saddened to hear of the passing of Twinkle Borges, a beloved leader and advocate for O'ahu's homeless community. Her legacy is one of caring and compassion, and helping to lift others up. She was an inspiration to many, and her creativity and endless aloha will be missed.

Twinkle Borge, longtime activist and leader of the Pu‘uhonua O Wai‘anae homeless encampment, died Monday.

The Department of Community Services (DCS) Elderly Affairs Division (EAD) led an incredible effort to raise money for our neighbors in Lahaina who are still working to recover from the Maui Wildfires. As worldwide donation efforts slow down, there are still many families struggling to make ends meet. We are proud to present the Hawaii Community Foundation with a humble representation of our aloha for those who continue to suffer from this terrible tragedy.
