Meet Our 2026–2027 Mayor’s Youth Council!

Tonight was an exciting evening as we proudly introduced and officially swore in the members of our 2026–2027 Mayor’s Youth Council during the Board of Aldermen meeting!

We are especially excited that this is the first year our Council includes students from Lake Cormorant High School! This is a wonderful opportunity to bring students from across our community together as we continue building connections, strengthening relationships, and celebrating what makes Horn Lake special. We are proud to be !

We are so excited to begin another year with this outstanding group of young people. These students represent the future leaders of our community, and we look forward to watching them grow in leadership, serve others, build new relationships, and learn more about the community they call home.

Before being sworn in, we started the evening with a little fun! The students were divided into teams for a team-building challenge to see which group could work together to build the longest paper chain. There was plenty of laughter and a little friendly competition, but most importantly, they quickly learned that communication, teamwork, and working toward a common goal are essential to success — all great lessons in leadership!

This is just the beginning of what we know will be an incredible year. We have some exciting opportunities ahead, and we cannot wait to see what this group accomplishes together.

Our future is bright, and these young leaders are one of the reasons why!

🚨 WATER MAIN BREAK – SERVICE INTERRUPTION 🚨

Due to a water main break in the Mayfair/Forestgate area, water service will be temporarily shut off while crews work to make the necessary repairs.

The anticipated affected areas include Foxgate, Mayfair, Castlegate, Gatewood, Lynnfield, Riverdale, and surrounding areas.

💧 Estimated Service Restoration: Approximately 10:00 PM tonight

Our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to complete the repairs and restore water service. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this unexpected interruption.

We will provide additional updates if the estimated restoration time changes.

We will be replacing the fire hydrant at Shannon and Downing. The shutdown of the water main will impact about 37 homes. This will occur starting at approximately 10:00 A.M. In most cases the Hydrant has an individual shut off but not in this case. This is repairing damage from a previous vehicle impact.

Carleigh Jones, a spirited 5-year-old from Horn Lake, MS, the daughter of James and Adriane Jones, has just been crowned queen at America’s Best Pageant! Named Little Miss Horn Lake, she now gears up to compete in the prestigious America’s Best National Pageant from September 11-13 in Nashville, TN, where she will proudly represent her hometown.

America’s Best Pageant champions community involvement and good citizenship. Carleigh’s dream is to bring home the crown for her community.

Congratulations, Carleigh Jones! You’re an inspiration!
