Today, HPD Communications Supervisor, Jolene Wallace was greeted by two boys in the lobby. She was surprised that they were offering to clean our windows as a kind gesture. (Note: they were just cleaned today by our custodian, Keaton). Of course we accepted their rare kind gesture and they went to work, it was impressive. This act of kindness still exists in the world we live today and it’s even more impactful coming from our youth.

Thank you Deklan and Kadesh Flewelling for your kindness and reminding us about giving to others.

Of course they left with a Houlton Farms Dairy token and a generous tip.

Special thanks to all of HPD for your dedication, professionalism and community service during the “Midnight Madness” event and the “Independence Day” parade. This was a community partnership organized and sponsored by the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce. Your performance was outstanding and appreciated.

Members of HPD recently attended the LE ATV certification course sponsored by the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife which is an academy certified class! The class included classroom orientation as well as hands on skills testing. This certification will allow more HPD officers to patrol the trail system and access roads.

The mission is to increase safety for enthusiasts, encourage voluntary compliance, enforcement when needed and provide trail information.

Remember, ride responsibility and respect landowners property! Follow all laws and ordinances!

The Houlton Police Department held two days of scenario based training to provide practical hands on experience. The training focused on safety, officer protection and fi****ms applications. Training introduces new tactics and increases performance while serving our community. The event was organized by HPD firearm instructor, Officer Joshua Robbins.

To increase the value of training, a drone was deployed to video officer performance which will later be critiqued for additional teaching points.

The Houlton Police Department is continuing to receive noise complaints specifically excessive exhaust noise throughout our community.

Most noise violation are a result of illegal modifications to exhaust systems. This noise is disruptive to residents throughout our community.

Effective immediately, HPD is taking increased enforcement action to those in violation.

We expect safe and respectful operation throughout our community. All Maine State Laws and the Municipal Ordinance have been attached as a reference.

We encourage all violations be reported to HPD as well as photos or videos of specific incidents if possible.

This girl was found wandering on Court Street with another dog a short time ago. She has a collar and a rabies tag from 2023. If she belongs to you, or you know her owner, please contact dispatch at 532-2287.
