We’d like to welcome our two newest Firefighter 1 graduates to the fire service. Colby and Paul completed the 200 hour firefighter one training program with the Cape May County Fire Academy, ending with a graduation last night.

To celebrate Fire Prevention Week, we are excited to host an additional Friday Night at the Firehouse. Please visit us this Friday from 6pm-8pm. In addition to Friday Night, we will be visiting numerous schools and daycares throughout the week to educate students on fire safety. Remember to check their school bags for educational materials and gifts.

This afternoon, CMCH Fire along with Atlanticare EMS and Middle Twp. Police were notified of a motor vehicle crash with entrapment in the area of Route 9 south and Johnstown Ln. Squad 70 along with engines 70 and 71 responded. The patient was quickly removed from the vehicle and turned over to EMS.

Yesterday, Sept. 8th at approximately 10:08am Station 70 was alerted to a reported commercial structure fire at 663 Shunpike Rd. As part of a mutual aid agreement, Stations 13 (Stone Harbor Quint 13) and 73 ( Green Creek Squad 73 and Tanker 73) were assigned along with Atlanticare EMS. At 10:10am Assistant 70 arrived to a working fire in a 50ftx600ft storage building. Due to the area not having a hydrant system, a tanker task force was requested along with a quint from Station 72 (Rio Grande).

Engine 70 arrived shortly thereafter and began an aggressive fire attack. Members simultaneously forced the metal doors open while suppressing heavy amounts of fire. While suppression efforts were being done, crews from Quints 13 and 72 were ventilating the roof to cool down the inside and stop the fire from advancing. Crews from station 73 and 74 also assisted in fire suppression.

Tankers from Erma, Oceanview, Dennisville and Villas responded to assist with water shuttle. Middle Township Ambulance responded to provide fire rehab to our firefighters. Middle Township Police and Fire Police assisted with traffic control. The fire was fully extinguished in approximately 3 hours and held to a small section of the building.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Cape May County Fire Marshals Office and Middle Township Police MCU. Thank you to all who assisted with containing this fire quickly.

That’s a wrap for now! We had a great time at all of our Friday Nights at the Firehouse and we hope you all did too! Make sure to follow us to keep up to date with any other events we may host.
