Housing Alliance HTX is a public housing agency and unit of government, affiliated and performing essential governmental functions of the U.S. The agency operates and manages its housing developments to provide decent, safe, sanitary and affordable housing to low income, elderly, and disabled individuals and families, and also maintains contractual arrangements with HUD to manage and operate programs funded with development grants, federal monies, and rental income.

Today marked an exciting milestone as we celebrated the groundbreaking of Trinity East Village Senior—a transformational affordable housing community that will help seniors in Houston’s historic Third Ward age in place with dignity, stability, access to supportive services, and hope.

This 90-unit development represents more than new housing. It reflects a shared commitment to preserving affordability, preventing displacement, and investing in the people and neighborhoods that make our city stronger.

We were honored to celebrate alongside Mayor John Whitmire, community leaders, faith partners, housing advocates, and residents who helped make this vision a reality.

Thank you to everyone whose partnership and dedication brought us to this important day.

The work continues, but today we paused to celebrate a community truly working together to be the change for good.

The Housing Alliance HTX Public Housing Waitlist application period is now closed.

Thank you to everyone who applied. Approximately 56,000 applicants submitted applications for waitlists at eight public housing communities across Houston, highlighting the significant need for affordable housing in our region.

What’s next?
🏠 A randomized lottery will be conducted to determine placement on the public housing waitlists.

📧 Applicants will be notified of their waitlist status by the end of July via the email associated with their RentCafe account.

✅ Applicants already on the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waitlist who submitted the required consent form will be placed on the public housing waitlists based on the date and time their completed consent form was received and will not participate in the lottery.

In observance of Independence Day and the celebration of America’s 250th Birthday, Housing Alliance HTX offices will have adjusted office hours this week. 
 
As we commemorate our nation’s history and celebrate 250 years of resilience, freedom, and progress, we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday with family and friends.
 
Our offices will reopen for regular business hours Monday, July 6th at 8:00am.

Kelly joined our Executive Leadership Team as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, bringing more than 30 years of experience in affordable housing, real estate development, finance, property management, and strategic leadership.

Throughout her distinguished career, Kelly has led transformative initiatives across the public and private sectors, including a decade of service with HUD, where she guided major FHA programs through national organizational change and earned the prestigious FHA Commissioner’s Award for her leadership and dedication to the housing industry.

Her expertise in financial stewardship, operational excellence, and affordable housing innovation will help strengthen our mission to create opportunities and build thriving communities across Houston.
