Level up! It's time to get gaming. Don't forget to register for our Accessible Gaming Teen Camp next week, starting June 22nd. Campers will get hands-on experience with accessible games, as well as enjoy a presentation from the Texas Workforce Commission.

With school out and summer right around the corner, The Lighthouse of Houston is excited to announce our Youth Specialty Camps, all designed for blind and low vision youth and their siblings.

Camps take place Monday through Wednesday, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Camp fees are $10 per week, and financial assistance is available.

Running from June through July, our camps offer something for everyone. Whether performing on the stage, going mad with science during STEAM week, leveling up with accessible video games, learning about podcasting, hitting the field for sports, or learning essential life skills in our Shine & Dine camp, we have it all!

Each camp is crafted to help youth learn, grow, and gain confidence in a supportive, inclusive environment, all while having an absolute blast. Spots fill up fast, so now’s the time to check out the full schedule and register for a summer of discovery, creativity, and fun!

Our Lighthouse Choir didn’t just sing the National Anthem last night. They stole the show!

We are so always so proud of our talented members, who had an unforgettable night filled with music, laughter, and joy. A special thank you to everyone who came out to support us and cheered from the stands.

Moments like these remind us how powerful community, inclusion, and a little fun can be.

New episode of Sightless Voices: Unleashing Potential available now!

Jennifer sits down with Kathy Gallagher, a lifelong blind professional, guide dog user, and longtime leader connected to National Industries for the Blind.

Kathy lost her vision by age five, grew up fully included in school, and found freedom through her guide dogs. She opens up about breaking into her first job and the barriers blind professionals still face today.

“I didn’t feel like I experienced discrimination until I went to look for a job.”

Kathy shares how she built a career in HR, championed training and leadership pathways for blind employees, and why she believes blind jobseekers should be proactive, persistent, and unapologetically qualified.
