Highlights from recent weeks of diplomatic exchange, partnership, and cultural engagement:
(1) 🎨🇩🇪 Public art and international friendship came together in College Station, where Deputy Consul General Markus Hatzelmann attended the unveiling of an exceptional mural by Greifswald artist Enrico Pense. Covering approximately 200 square meters of a library wall, the artwork celebrates the sister-city partnerships of College Station and Bryan through animals representing partner cities in Germany, Belgium, Poland and Mexico.
(2) 🤠🇺🇸 San Antonio Days 2026 brought together representatives from 21 countries for a closer look at one of Texas’ most dynamic cities. From cybersecurity and life sciences to AI, space, culture, and tourism.Thank you to Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones, the City of San Antonio, and the World Affairs Council of San Antonio for the warm welcome and outstanding hospitality.
(3)🇮🇹 Italian Republic Day marked 80 years of resilience and progress. Consul General Kai Hennig was pleased to join the celebration and thanks Consul General Mauro Lorenzini for the wonderful reception, highlighting the rich culture, traditions, and spirit of the Italian people.
(4) 🌈🎻 The International Pride Orchestra brought an inspiring evening of music, pride, and community to Houston. Hosted by Peaches Christ, the performance showcased the power of culture to connect and celebrate diversity.
(5) 🤝 Strengthening regional partnerships: We were pleased to welcome Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and her team to the Consulate for discussions on future projects, economic cooperation, and ongoing business investments. We value this strong partnership and look forward to continued collaboration.
(6) 🏭🌱 Deputy Consul General Markus Hatzelmann attended the opening of North America's first C2-based MMA plant of Röhm in Bay City, Texas.
A remarkable example of German innovation and sustainability, strengthening regional supply chains while reducing emissions. Congratulations to all involved on this important milestone!
