On January 3, 2001 Robert and Paulina Steele became licensed foster parents with AWFC. 25 years later, after fostering 29 children and adopting 2 they are still going strong. The Steele's have a knack for fostering very challenging children and most often care for children suffering from autism. I credit this to their patience, understanding of trauma related care, and their sense of humor. When challenges present themselves in the home, and trust me they do, it is like water off the back of a duck. Nothing seems to phase them. Not to coin a 70's phrase but they keep on keepin' on. I have had the pleasure of working with them and serving them for close to 11 years as Regional Program Director with AWFC. They were the first home I visited after I was hired. They had already been here over 10 years and wound up schooling me as to the AWFC way of doing things. Their service to our children and our community is unwavering. This agency, and myself are very blessed to walk the same ground with Robert and Paulina Steele. Thank you so much for all you do!
With love and respect,
