GENE MOLINO

Gene was born and raised in the Greater Pittston area, having resided in Hughestown until he graduated from Pittston Area Senior High School in 1997 as Co-Valedictorian. Gene then attended the University of Pittsburgh where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a dual major in Political Science and Business in 2001. He attained his Juris Doctorate from the Penn State Dickinson School of Law in 2004 and was admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania later that year. Since 2008, he has maintained a general civil practice representing clients throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. In 2011, Gene formed a partnership with his good friend and PPP Celebrity Bartender Alumnus, Greg Skibitsky. The law office of Skibitsky & Molino is located at 457 North Main Street, Pittston. Skibitsky & Molino handles a wide variety of legal matters including personal injury cases; workers’ compensation claims; family law cases including divorce, custody, support, and adoptions; estate planning/administration, zoning/land use, municipal law, and general civil litigation. Gene and Greg serve as the municipal solicitor for Exeter Township and Hughestown Borough, the zoning and planning solicitor for Exeter Borough, and the solicitor for the Duryea Borough Sewer Authority. In addition to his private practice, Gene serves as a part-time Assistant District Attorney assigned to the Major Crimes Division in the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office. He previously served as a full-time Assistant District Attorney from 2005 – 2008, and as an Administrative Law Judge for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare from 2004 – 2005.

Gene is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Wilkes-Barre Law & Library Association / Luzerne County Bar Association, the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce, and a life member of the Pitt Alumni Association. He is also a Past Master of Saint John’s Lodge No. 233, F. & A. M.; a member of the Valley of Scranton, A.A.S.R., 32°; the Irem Shrine, A.A.O.N.M.S.; and the Italian American Association of Luzerne County.

Gene is proud to support Paint Pittston Pink and its outstanding work since 2013 to raise money in support of a vaccine to eradicate breast cancer. Barb, Qiana, and PPP’s core group of volunteers do a fantastic job of raising awareness and money by planning and executing events that bring together the entire Greater Pittston community to support the cause.

Gene resides in Duryea with his wife, Stacey, and their adorable fur baby, Stella.

Yesterday there was a NAT Sweep conducted in the Drake Street area of town. The sweep resulted in 11 notices of violation. Additionally, the police department checked 12 abandoned vehicles to be removed or repaired while the fire department inspected and painted 5 fire hydrants. The borough intends to continue the scheduled NAT sweeps in an effort to improve our neighborhoods. All residents are reminded to respond to any notices of violation to prevent citations from being issued.

RESIDENTS: The Hughestown Neighborhood Crime Watch is having a meeting on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 7 pm at the Hughestown Hose Co. Please come and join us. Officer Diaz is going to speak and he is bringing our K-9 JAX. Come and meet him. It will be an enjoyable meeting. Also, pictures used for the Hometown Banners can be picked up.

The Hughestown Hose Company has joined forces with the Hughestown Police Department to host our First Annual Gun Raffle. Each ticket is $20 and there will be twelve (12) different prizes which are listed on the ticket below. The drawing will be held on Friday, November 19th, 2021 at 3PM in our Event Center. You must be 21 or older to purchase a ticket. All proceeds will benefit both the Hughestown Fire Department and the new Hughestown Police K9 Unit. You can stop by the station or contact any member to purchase a ticket.

This is a copy of PA House Bill 542 regarding the use of fireworks in Pennsylvania. If you are using fireworks to celebrate on July 4th, please be considerate of your neighbors if they have any pets and please obey the noise ordinance.

Also as stated below, any Display Fireworks are still only to be used by professionals with a permit issued by the fire department.

When shopping this week, pick up an extra case of drinking water and drop it off at your local fire station. Firefighters wear 70+ lbs of gear in this heat and hydration is something we need to stay in operations. As always, we appreciate your donation.

Please follow the weekly pickup schedule.

Residents, please remember to put garbage, recyclables, and yard waste out the night before their scheduled pick up day. Your bins will not be picked up if they are not put out on the proper days.

Today’s sweep resulted in 6 Notices of Violation while the fire department inspected and painted 7 fire hydrants. Additionally, the street department checked several storm drains for debris and made a list of street signs that need to be changed or added.

The borough intends to continue the scheduled NAT sweeps in an effort to improve our neighborhoods. The next sweep is scheduled for June 24th.

Today’s sweep resulted in 11 Notices of Violation and 1 Verbal Warning for issues such as high grass and weeds, accumulation of rubbish/debris, unsanitary pools, and other listed voilations. Additionally, the police checked and tagged 4 abandoned vehicles to be removed or repaired while the fire department inspected and painted 1 fire hydrant. The borough intends to continue the scheduled NAT sweeps in an effort to improve our neighborhoods.

The Neighborhood Action Team (NAT) will continue inspections again on Thursday, June 10th. The NAT will focus its efforts in the area of Rock Street.

Also, ALL branches must be bundled, tied, and no longer than three (3) feet long or not be more than 30 lbs. If they are not, they will not be picked up.

HUGHESTOWN COMMUNITY YARD SALE AND OUTDOOR VENDOR MARKET Hughestown Park and Recreation will be holding a community wide yard sale in Hughestown Borough on Saturday, June 5th. Along with the yard sales at homes throughout the borough, there will also be an outdoor vendor market on the grounds of the borough building and Robert Yaple Memorial Park. There are many homes in the borough participating in the yard sale and over 20 vendors for the outdoor market. If you want your home listed on the map, please call Mary Golya 570-655-4552, Samantha Purdy 570-466-1948 or the borough building 570-654-2061. There will also be food trucks to purchase food. We hope to see everyone on Saturday June 5th, stop at the pavilion to pick up your map, shop the vendors and then take a drive through town to get some great bargains. Hughestown Park and Recreation will do all the advertising for the yard sales in the local papers. It's free for everyone to get your home listed, so clean out your garages and closets!
Due to the weather the street department has stopped picking up til tomorrow so that they can concentrate on the roads to make them safe so you and your loved ones can travel safely. We ask that if you have to go out in this weather to please drive safe. Thank You
Due to the weather and after the storm snow removal recycling pick-up will HOPEFULLY resume on Thursday with the following order: Thursday - cardboard/paper only no plastic bags please put paper in paper bags or your recycle bins, Friday: plastic/aluminum, no plastic bags or styrofoam of any kind, if this is to change cause of weather i will update you here.
