Hughestown Emergency Services Loyalty ~ Pride ~ Honor ~ Courage The hose company provides many services to Hughestown Borough and surrounding communities.

In the year 1907 an organization was formed by a group of town’s men to prevent property damage from natural disasters, protect the nearby coal breaker #9, and lives of the town people. Not until the year 1908 on February 11th, this organization was incorporated under the name of the Hughestown Hose Company No. 1 located at 30 Center Street in Hughestown Borough. Today the department offers the fo

llowing services; Fire / Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Police, Rapid Intervention, Bariatric Transport, and a Wildland Strike Team. Over the years the growing department of proud and hard-working members of the Hughestown Hose Company #1 made this department what it is today, which is still as strong as it was on February 11th, 1908.

We’re adding something NEW to this year’s **Annual Hughestown Fire & Police Golf Tournament!**

🏆 This year, we’ll be awarding **1st AND 2nd Place prizes in TWO separate divisions:**

🚒 **FIRST RESPONDER DIVISION**

🚨 **What qualifies as a First Responder Team?**
To compete in the First Responder Division, **ALL FOUR members of your team must be active or retired first responders**, including:

🚒 Firefighters
🚑 EMS Personnel
🚓 Law Enforcement
📟 911 / Emergency Communications
🛟 Other recognized first responder personnel

Everyone else is welcome to compete in our **Open Division!**

Today, Ambulance 543-3 stood by at the Duryea Wildcats Field for their home games!

As a nonprofit, community-based, emergency-only EMS agency, every dollar we receive goes right back into our operations—helping us maintain our apparatus, purchase lifesaving equipment, train our crews, and ensure our communities continue to have access to high-quality emergency medical care when they need it most.

Whether we're responding to an emergency, providing standby coverage at a community event, or supporting our neighbors, our mission remains the same:

We were so happy that some of our members were able to be there to celebrate this amazing moment with them and share in such a special day.

🚒 Ever wonder how we staff our fire station 24/7?

We use a staffing model that combines our paid staff and dedicated volunteers, allowing us to maintain coverage around the clock and respond to multiple calls at the same time if needed.

During the daytime hours, we can have up to 4 cross-trained firefighters on duty, along with a borough-paid firefighter. During the evenings and overnight hours, we transition to the staffing model shown below, which is supplemented largely by our volunteers.

We’re extremely grateful for the combination of paid staff and volunteers who make this system work and help ensure we have someone ready to answer the call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 🚒

🚨EXCITING NEWS FROM STATION 143!🚨

Station 143 is happy to announce that we have entered into a lease agreement with Dante LaFratte Catering for the use of our industrial kitchen!

When we heard that Dante was looking for a new home for his catering business in the Greater Pittston area, we immediately thought Station 143 could be a great fit. Our industrial kitchen has traditionally only been put to use once a year for our annual Lent fundraiser, so we're excited to see this space utilized throughout the year by a great local business.

Dante has built a great reputation through his food, service, and dedication to his customers, and we're proud to have his business operating out of Station 143.

🚑 A Special Delivery in Duryea! 👶💙

On August 8th, members of Hughestown Ambulance, alongside our mutual aid partners from Greater Pittston Regional Ambulance, helped with something truly extraordinary — assisted in delivering a baby during an emergency call in Duryea Borough!

With no time to waste, our crews relied on their training, experience, and teamwork to safely help bring a new life into the world. Following the delivery, both crews continued caring for mom and her newborn.

We are very happy to report that both mom and baby are doing great!

We couldn’t be prouder of Sergeant Adelio “AJ” Merlino and Sergeant Matt Crawford, along with the crew from Medic 29, for their professionalism, teamwork, and outstanding care that day.

Calls like this are a special reminder of why we do what we do — and this is certainly one our crews won’t soon forget.

Please join us in congratulating everyone involved and wishing mom, baby, and their family all the best! 👶🚑❤️
