🍎 September is here, Cubs!

Here is our September calendar, along with our tentative breakfast, second chance breakfast, and lunch menus.

Let’s kick off September with a bang and make it a great month of learning, fun, and Cub spirit! 🧡

🧡 Today, Mrs. Clemmer held our first CKH assembly, focusing on the word empathy!

Empathy means understanding how others may be feeling and showing them that we care. Whether it’s listening with our eyes, ears, and heart, including someone, offering a helping hand, or simply choosing kindness, even the smallest actions can make a big difference in someone’s day.

Thank you, Mrs. Clemmer, for always helping remind our Cubs what it means to lead with kindness, compassion, and heart. 🧡

🎉 Spirit Stick Winners are in!

Congratulations to our Week 2 Spirit Stick winners! Our ASB visited classrooms Friday to count all of our Cubs showing their Cross spirit, and these classes came out on top:

TK: Room 2, Mrs. Bohannan
Kindergarten: Room 6, Mrs. Vallarta
1st Grade: Room 8, Mrs. Ryan
2nd Grade: Room 16, Ms. Ramirez
3rd Grade: TIE! Room 34, Ms. Franco & Room 27, Mrs. Ramsey
4th Grade: Room 25, Mr. Johnston, with EVERYONE wearing spirit gear! 👏
5th Grade: Room 21, Mrs. Shirley

Congratulations to all of our winners! 🏆 Enjoy those bragging rights and that Spirit Stick!

📚 Every Day Counts at Cross! 🐯

Our Attendance Team is coordinating a new incentive program to encourage our Cubs to be at school each day and ready to learn!

Our monthly attendance goal is 95%, and this year we’re working to reduce chronic absenteeism from 12% to 9%. Chronic absenteeism means missing 2 or more days a month, or more than 18 days during the school year.

Regular attendance supports academic and social success, and we’re here to help our Cubs reach their full potential! 🧡

✨ Good Things Spotlight: Room 25 🧡

Room 25 had some great Good Things to share!

Ariany celebrated meeting her AR goal, and Neo was excited to share that he has a ponytail just like his awesome teacher, Mr. Johnston. 🐯

Big accomplishments and fun little moments both give our Cubs something good to smile about. Way to go, Room 25! 🧡

✨ Good Things Spotlight: Room 24 🧡

This morning in Room 24, Robert took the lead during their CKH “Good Things!” He did an amazing job listening to his classmates, celebrating each Cub as they shared, and helping start the class’s day on a positive note. 🐯

Also pictured is Room 24’s Social Contract, created and signed together by the students and teacher as a reminder of how they want to treat and support one another throughout the year.

Way to lead, Robert, and way to go, Room 24! 🧡

Today, Mrs. Ryan found her twin in the wild! 👯‍♀️🐾 We love it when our Cubs are caught matching with our staff. Now this is the kind of twinning that makes our heart happy! 🧡

✨ Starting the Day with Good Things 🧡

Last Wednesday, Room 17 started the day by sharing “Good Things” as part of Capturing Kids’ Hearts. Our Cubs talked with partners about everything from birthdays and soccer games to fun family moments and simply being happy to see their friends again. The little things and the big things all matter. 🐯

Also pictured is Room 17’s Social Contract, another important part of CKH. The contract is created together by students and teachers, signed by the class, and serves as a shared agreement for how they want to treat one another and learn together.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be spotlighting more classrooms and the Good Things our Cubs are sharing.

🧡 Try it at home, too! Share one Good Thing during dinner or family time and hear what everyone has to say.
