An aerial black fly (gnat) suppression operation is scheduled for Monday, August 31st, on the Youghiogheny River, Loyalhanna Creek, the Kiskiminetas River, the Conemaugh River, Mahoning Creek, Slippery Rock Creek, Neshannock Creek, Connoquenessing Creek. This operation will begin Monday in Fayette County at 7:00 and will finish in Lawrence County. This aerial application will include flights in Armstrong, Butler, Cambria, Clarion, Fayette, Indiana, Lawrence, and Westmoreland Counties. The helicopter will be a Bell Long Ranger with the tail number N53702 and is painted white and blue with red stripes.

Helicopter Applicators Inc. will be dispersing Vectobac 12AS, which is a Bti product manufactured by Valent Biosciences. Bti is short for Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis, which is a bacterial larvicide, not a chemical, and is the only product used in Pennsylvania's waterways for black fly suppression. Vectobac 12AS is a thick liquid that is brown in color that quickly disperses when applied to the water. The helicopter will fly low near tree top level and will release the material at various predetermined locations on each river.

NATIONAL MAKE A WILL MONTH

Why National Make-A-Will Month Matters

1. Low participation: Roughly two-thirds of American adults do not have a valid will.

2. State intervention: Without a will, state laws decide how your property and assets are distributed.

3. Guardianship: A will is the primary legal tool to name a guardian for minor children.

4. Reduced conflict: Clear instructions minimize potential disputes among grieving family members.

How to Participate:

Inventory assets: Make a list of your financial accounts, real estate, and personal property.

Choose an executor: Select a trusted person or family member to manage your estate.

Plan legacy gifts: Decide if you want to include charities or specific organizations as beneficiaries.

Draft the document: Use a LOCAL estate planning attorney or utilize trusted online will-writing platforms that address PA laws.
