In collaboration with the Damien Center, Step Up, and Overdose Lifeline, MCPHD will host the next "Be a Good Neighbor" event this Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Garfield Park Library. At the event, we will distribute and promote the use of overdose prevention materials and community resources, clean up the neighborhood, and provide free HIV and Hepatitis C testing.

Indiana’s new Farm and Homestead Food Sales law allows homestead vendors and small-farm operators to sell an expanded variety of pre-packaged foods to the public with limited regulation. Types of food and sales locations are limited, and there are labeling requirements.

Fireplaces, cars, and gas appliances – such as stoves, furnaces, water heaters, and gas-powered generators – can be sources of carbon monoxide (CO), a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas.

MCPHD’s Housing and Neighborhood Health staff talks with property owners and tenants about the dangers of CO poisoning and the importance of using CO monitors.
