Our IMPD partners are looking for a few more sponsors for the Blue vs. Blue Prostate Cancer Awareness Gala! Email [email protected] if interested.

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer related deaths among men, and unfortunately, men in our communities continue to experience disproportionately high mortality rates. Thanks to support and sponsorships, they are able to educate, encourage early detection, and provide hope to those affected by this disease.

Jannett Keesling, founder and president of Keys2Work, said the money will help 18- to 24-year-olds transitioning out of prison.

“Without this money, how could we serve? We've got several people who would be coming home with no opportunities," Keesling said. “This is an opportunity for them to come directly referred to us. And on day one, they're earning money, they're learning skills and they're going to have a job.”

Keys2Work, in partnership with RecycleForce and 2nd Chance Indiana 2nd Chance, has been awarded competitive funding through the U.S. Department of Labor’s Reentry Employment in Skilled Trades, Advanced Manufacturing, Registered Apprenticeships, and Training (RESTART) Initiative. The three-year grant will support 680 justice-involved young adults, ages 18 to 24, by connecting them to employment, workforce training, industry-recognized credentials, and the support services needed to build long-term careers.

The project, “Developing the Work Muscle,” is rooted in the belief that work changes lives. By helping young adults earn a paycheck, develop valuable workplace skills, and build confidence through meaningful employment, the initiative aims to create stronger futures for participants while strengthening Indiana’s workforce.

“I am very honored the that the US Department of Labor and its Reentry Employment Opportunity arm has confidence in Keys2Work and our subrecipients to deliver on this important workforce development and crime mitigation effort for our state,” said Jannett Keesling, Keys2Work President.

On Wednesday, Governor Mike Braun visited our facility to celebrate this transformative federal investment and take a tour of our building.

The investment will strengthen Indiana’s workforce by connecting justice-involved young adults with employment opportunities, industry-recognized training, supportive services, and career pathways in high-demand industries.

“We’re going to show you how to work by asking you to work and giving you the grace to fail and to try again,” said Gina Davis, Keys2Work’s senior director, “in an environment where they are surrounded by peers and peer leaders who have been on the same journeys they are on.”

The funding will support workforce training people being released from prison and jail.
