Did you know? Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) is a Medicare-covered service that allows health care providers to remotely monitor certain chronic health conditions using approved medical devices. While this service can be beneficial, it should only appear on your Medicare records if you agreed to receive it.

Recently, Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) programs across the country have received reports of Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) charges appearing on Medicare Summary Notices (MSNs) and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) for beneficiaries who do not remember enrolling in or receiving these services.

When reviewing your Medicare statements, ask yourself:
✔ Did I agree to participate in Remote Patient Monitoring?
✔ Did I receive monitoring equipment from my provider?
✔ Have I actually used this service?

If you answer no to any of these questions, don't ignore the charge. Unexpected RPM claims could be the result of a billing error or potential Medicare fraud.
