The kids at Coburn Place rock climbed, skated and made creepy cakes at Fall Camp! Every seasonal school break, our Children's Services team makes sure camp is packed with fun experiences because it's so important for our young survivors to have the opportunity to just be kids with beautiful memories. This year was one for the books! 💜

This group of interns with Merchants Bank IN helped us stock up on important essentials! Hygiene items are often overlooked as a basic necessity, but having a full pantry removes a huge barrier for survivors. Thanks to their help, families can focus on healing and resting. We appreciate your support! 💜

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and over 40% of Hoosier women experience intimate partner violence.

And last year, we received 1,300 calls for help from Hoosier women escaping domestic violence with their children. We were able to house only 93 of those families. The need for DV support for women in Indiana is evident.

At Coburn Place, women escaping domestic violence and their children can move into fully furnished apartments filled with food, basic necessities, art, and love for up to two years rent- and utility-free.

We know this approach to healing works. Last year, almost all of the families moving out of Coburn Place moved into their own safe, permanent housing.

This group of wonderful volunteers from Managed Health Services - MHS recently set up an apartment for a mom and her two boys moving into Coburn Place after they escaped domestic violence. Because of our volunteers and supporters, this family will be able to rest, heal, and rebuild in their own safe home.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The statistics are stark. The stories are real. The stakes are life and death.

Homicide is the number one cause of death for pregnant women, and last year, 1 in 4 homicides in Indiana were because of domestic violence.

These aren't abstract problems. They're real women – most with young children – whose lives hang in the balance as they risk homelessness or death.

It's more likely for young children who experience domestic violence to have trouble in school, and a little extra help can make all the difference. Thankfully, the kids living at Coburn Place get one-on-one academic support with tutors from Brightlane Learning.

We are so grateful for our tutors and community for guiding and supporting our youngest survivors on their path forward.
