StatFlight provides high-level critical care and rapid air medical transport. With bases located in West Lafayette, Seymour, Marion, Greencastle, Rushville, and Evansville. StatFlight’s service area stretches from border to border, serving the entire state of Indiana as well as portions of Ohio, Kentucky and Illinois. St.Vincent StatFlight is accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS).

Safety Day 2026 🚁🚑🚨🚒

We had a great time joining the Sugar Creek Township Fire Department for SCTFD Safety Day! It was a great day focused on fire prevention, safety, and education, and we loved getting the opportunity to connect with our community and our fellow first responders.

Our crew enjoyed showing families a closer look at the helicopter, talking about air medical transport, and sharing some of the equipment we use to care for patients in the field and in the air. We also got to check out the Safe Trailer, watch the K9 demonstration, see the fire apparatus, and spend plenty of time with some of our favorite four-legged community members. 🐾

A huge thank you to Sugar Creek Township Fire Department for inviting us and for putting together such a great event for the community. We’re proud to work alongside the fire, EMS, law enforcement, and community organizations that make days like this possible.

MEET THE CREW: STATFLIGHT 3

Gigi Griffith, RN, CEN, CFRN | Flight Nurse

With 6 years of nursing experience, including emergency nursing at our very own Level I Trauma Center in Indianapolis and 2.5 years in air medical, Gigi brings a passion for critical care, teamwork, and providing exceptional care to patients when they need it most.

Gigi was inspired to become a flight nurse after watching flight crews arrive in the emergency department with confidence and expertise, delivering patients in better condition than when they found them. That experience helped shape her own passion for air medical transport.

She loves the high-intensity, high-acuity situations that require collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. For Gigi, being able to care for people on their worst days is an incredible honor.

When she’s not at work, Gigi enjoys hiking national parks with her husband and knitting.

One of her favorite parts of the job is working alongside people who are both clinically strong and genuinely kind. She says she never goes a shift without laughing, and that the people she works with are what make an already great job incredible.

At StatFlight 3, we’re proud to have Gigi as part of our team. Her dedication to patient care, passion for critical care, and appreciation for teamwork reflect the commitment we share to continually grow as HEMS professionals.

FOAM Friday: The Crew Behind the Crew | Aviation Safety & Education

Patient care doesn’t begin when the helicopter lifts off. Behind every mission is a dedicated aviation team working to keep our aircraft safe and mission-ready.

🔧 Behind the Scenes: Daily Inspections

📸 Pic 1 | Main Rotor Head: Checking for loose linkages, worn or damaged parts, and foreign object debris (FOD).

📸 Pic 2 | Instrument Panel: Inspecting gauges and lights and verifying that caution lights function properly.

📸 Pic 3 | Fuel Sampling: Checking fuel samples for debris and Hormoconis resinae (jet fuel fungus), which can clog the fuel system and potentially cause an engine flameout.

Our mechanics may not be at the patient’s bedside, but their work is essential to every mission. From the hangar to the hospital, every member of the team plays a role in bringing critical care to the patient.

StatFlight 3 had the pleasure of visiting the nursing students at Anderson University! Although the weather kept us from flying in, we were still able to make the trip to their nursing school and spend time connecting with these future nurses.

We enjoyed sharing our experiences in air medical transport, discussing flight medicine, and giving students a glimpse into what we do. I think we have some future flight nurses in the making!

Born to proud parents Maria and Wesley, Lucas is already part of the air medical family! His dad, Wesley, serves as a Flight Paramedic in Marion, and we couldn’t be happier for their growing family. Celebrating 5 Years of Service at Marion!

We had a great day celebrating five years of service at Marion Municipal Airport and connecting with so many healthcare professionals, community leaders, and partners we have the privilege of working alongside.

From hands-on clinical skills demonstrations and aircraft tours to enjoying some great BBQ, it was a day filled with learning, laughter, and meaningful connections.

We were grateful to welcome Indiana State Senator Nick McKinley and City of Marion Mayor Ron Morrell, who joined us to learn more about our team, our capabilities, and the critical care services we provide to our community.

One of the most memorable moments of the day was watching our crew launch on a flight to provide critical care to a sick patient. It was a powerful reminder that while we appreciate opportunities to connect with our community, our mission never stops.

StatFlight 3 is always ready to respond, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Located right at Marion Municipal Airport, our team stands ready when the call comes in. Whether it’s you, a loved one, or someone in our community who needs us, we are here to provide critical care when every second matters.

Thank you to everyone who came out, spent time with us, and helped make this event such a success. We are grateful for the continued support of our healthcare partners, first responders, community leaders, and the community we are proud to serve.

MEET THE CREW: STATFLIGHT 3

Kyle Jackson, RN, CCRN, CFRN | Base Manager

With 10 years of experience in healthcare and 2.5 years in air medical, Kyle brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to the StatFlight 3 team. Coming from a background in a variety of intensive care units, he has developed a broad foundation in critical care that he brings to his role in air medical transport. As Base Manager, Kyle plays an important role in supporting our crew, keeping operations running smoothly, and ensuring we’re ready to answer the call when our community needs us.

When he’s not at work, Kyle enjoys spending time with his pup, Archie, and taking him to the dog park. And when it comes to his favorite station snack, you can’t go wrong with movie theatre popcorn!

One of Kyle’s favorite parts of the job is taking in the incredible views during a fall flight. But what makes StatFlight 3 special to him goes beyond the views. It’s the camaraderie, teamwork, and shared commitment to continually growing as HEMS professionals.

At StatFlight 3, we’re united by a common goal: to be the best HEMS professionals we can be and provide the highest level of care possible to the communities we serve.

Tension physiology occurs when trapped air or blood under high pressure builds inside the chest cavity, shifting the mediastinum, compressing the great vessels, and cutting off venous return to the heart. If left uncorrected, this rapid progression of obstructive shock leads directly to cardiac arrest.
By performing a tube thoracostomy, Flight Nurse Hayden can immediately decompress the pleural space, relieve trapped intrathoracic pressure, and restore life-saving cardiac preload in transit.

We’re opening the doors at StatFlight 3 today as we celebrate 5 years at Marion Municipal Airport.

This open house is for the healthcare professionals we work directly alongside every day — the nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists, EMS crews, dispatchers, and other partners who help us provide the best care for our patients.

Stop by to meet our crew, tour the base and aircraft, and get a closer look at the equipment and skills we use in the air medical environment.

We’ll have:

• Hands-on skills stations
• BBQ
• Aircraft and base tours
• Meet our pilots, paramedics, nurses, and mechanics
• Time to connect with the professionals we work alongside
