This World Orangutan Day, meet the “person of the forest!” 🦧🌳

Here are 5 Orangutans facts you probably didn’t know…

1️⃣ Orangutans share about 97% of their DNA with humans, making them one of our closest living relatives.
2️⃣ “Orangutan” means “person of the forest” in Malay and Indonesian.
3️⃣ Orangutans are the largest tree-dwelling mammals on Earth, spending nearly their entire lives in the rainforest canopy.
4️⃣ They build a brand new nest to sleep in every single night, high up in the canopy.
5️⃣ Orangutan mothers wait around 8 years between having young, one of the longest birth intervals of any mammal on Earth. Every individual lost is nearly impossible to replace.

Here’s the part that isn’t so fun: all three orangutan species are now endangered.

Bornean orangutans are listed as Endangered, with current estimates around 75,000-100,000 and falling, while Sumatran orangutans are Critically Endangered at roughly 13,800-14,600 left. The Tapanuli orangutan, the rarest great ape on the planet, is now estimated at only around 650 individuals.

A century ago there were over 230,000 orangutans in total. Today there are roughly 90,000-115,000 left, combined, across all three species, and the biggest driver is habitat loss from deforestation for palm oil and agriculture.

Small choices add up! Support orangutan conservation where you can, look for sustainably certified products, and send this to a friend who loves orangutans as much as we do. 🦧💚

Not just a cleanup, but a real rescue. 🌊🐦

Our partners at 4ocean set out to clean up plastic pollution along Bali’s Ijo Gading River after a heavy flood. What they found was more than trash, a fledgling egret, tangled and trapped in the debris.

The crew battled slippery, hazardous flood remnants to pull over 1,280 pounds of trash from the river. And in the middle of it all, they stopped to free that bird, giving it a second chance at life.

This is why the work matters. Every pound of plastic removed isn’t just cleaner water, it’s a healthier home for the wildlife that depends on it. 🌊

We’re proud to partner with 4ocean in this mission, one river, one rescue, one pound at a time.

There’s nothing like seeing impact up close!🌊🍫

We’re grateful for 4ocean & Alex Schulze for getting our team out on the water and showing us what this work really looks like and to Whole Foods Market for being there alongside us.

Together, we’re on track to remove over 1,000,000 pounds of plastic and debris from our ocean, rivers and coastlines by the end of 2028. This is just the beginning.

This duo is wild in the best way.🍫🍠

Sweet potatoes + dark chocolate + a little wild magic = these fudgey sweet potato brownies.

Simple ingredients and endangered species approved indulgence. (Full recipe below!)

You’ll need:
1.5 medium sweet potatoes, fully cooked at 425°F (about 1 hour)
1 overripe banana
2 eggs
1.5 tbsp maple syrup
¼ cup cacao powder
¾ cup oat flour
Big pinch of flaky sea salt
1 bar Endangered Species Chocolate dark chocolate, chopped
1 more bar, squared for topping

How to make it:
Mash sweet potato, banana, eggs, and maple syrup until smooth. Mix dry ingredients and fold into the wet mixture. Stir in chopped chocolate.

Pour into a parchment-lined baking dish, top with dark chocolate squares and extra flaky salt.
Bake at 350°F for 30-40 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes and enjoy warm. 🍫
