Trump and his Republican cronies are trying to pass a budget that includes $1 billion for Trump’s ballroom, $1 billion per day for their illegal war in Iran, $70 billion for ICE and CBP. The GOP's reconciliation proposal contains nothing for our families to help with the cost of groceries, gas, and more that they've driven up with their disaterous policies.

Hop on the bus and join our friends from Citizen Action of New York to rally for the Rent Emergency Stabilization for Tenants (REST) Act. We need the New York State legislature to pass this bill to empower municipalities like ours to expand rent stabilized building buildings and unit units across New York State and help people feel secure in their homes.

Join Citizen Action and partners on Tuesday, May 5th to call on the New York Sate legislature to pass The Rent Emergency Stabilization for Tenants (REST) Act which seeks to empower locales to expand rent stabilized buildings and units across New York State. Important update from Democracy Docket on the SAVE America Act, which the U.S. Senate is debating today. This bill would make it difficult for millions of eligible Americans to register to vote by requiring citizens to present a birth certificate or passport in person to register.

Call Senator Chuck Schumer and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to tell them to stand strong and protect our voting rights!

Senator Schumer: (202) 224-6542
Senator Gillibrand: (202) 224-4451

“I can’t guarantee an outcome on this legislation,” Thune said last week.

To celebrate Women's History Month, we are thrilled to share the Democratic View in Tompkins Weekly authored by Former Rep. and ERA NOW founder Carolyn Maloney!

ERA NOW has launched the Driving the Vote for Equality Tour, an ambitious national effort led by Maloney's organization ERA NOW with partner groups. Beginning in New York City and traveling across 25 states, the tour echoes the original suffrage drive and shines a spotlight on the unfinished business of American democracy: recognizing the Equal Rights Amendment as the 28th Amendment to the Constitution.

Learn more and sign the national petition at Sign4ERA.org. Maloney's op-ed is below:

Former Rep. Carolyn Maloney is reviving a historic suffrage road trip with the Golden Flyer II, a 25-state tour pressing Congress to finally recognize the Equal Rights Amendment.

Gas up 11% in ONE week. $3.32 a gallon — highest in 18 months. 92,000 jobs gone. You started an unauthorized war AND killed the job market simultaneously.

Drill baby drill was supposed to LOWER prices.
How’s that working out?

Thank you for standing up for seniors, Rep. Josh Riley.

Some bright spots in the news! On Tuesday, Alex Holladay flipped a seat in the Arkansaw State Legislature, a state Trump won by double digits. Since the start of 2025, Democrats have flipped 9 Republican-held seats in special elections in Iowa, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Georgia and Texas!

Since the start of 2025, Democrats have racked up wins in special elections for state legislative seats, giving the party hope for the midterm elections.

Exciting to see the "Golden Flyer" on the road!
