Perfect Saturday for training!

After much discussion, careful consideration, and reflection over the past year, the Madison County Fire Department has made the difficult decision not to host the Firefighters' Freedom Festival in 2026.

This decision has not come easily. For many years, the Freedom Festival has been a special tradition for our department and our community. It has been an opportunity to celebrate our nation's independence, bring families together, and create lasting memories with friends and neighbors.

As the festival has grown, so have the challenges of hosting an event of this size. The costs associated with producing the event have more than doubled in recent years, while available sponsorships and funding have become increasingly limited. At the same time, our community continues to grow and evolve. Expansion and development at the airport, along with the safety requirements necessary for a large-scale fireworks display, have reduced the available space needed to host the event. These are positive developments that will benefit Madison County for years to come, but they have also impacted our ability to continue the festival in the manner our community deserves. Additionally, our department is facing several major projects and operational demands that require significant time, attention, and resources.

After carefully evaluating all of these factors, we believe this is the right decision for our department and our community at this time.

While we are disappointed that we will not gather together on July 4th this year, our overwhelming feeling is one of gratitude.

To our sponsors, many of whom have stood beside us since the very beginning; thank you for your unwavering support. To our firefighters and their families who spent countless hours planning, setting up, working in the summer heat, and cleaning up after the crowds had gone home, thank you for your dedication and sacrifice. To the food vendors, ride operators, jumper providers, volunteers, and community partners who helped make each festival a success, we are deeply grateful.

Most importantly, thank you to the thousands of citizens who chose to spend part of their Independence Day with us each year. The Firefighters' Freedom Festival was always about community, patriotism, and bringing people together. The memories created over the years will be cherished by our department, and we hope they will be cherished by your families as well.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your Fourth of July traditions. It has been an honor to celebrate our country, our freedoms, and our community with you.

God bless Madison County, and God bless the United States of America.

As many gather this Memorial Day weekend with family, friends, food on the grill, and time together, we encourage everyone to pause and remember the true meaning behind this holiday.

Memorial Day is not simply the start of summer or a long weekend, it is a time of remembrance for the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the reason we are able to enjoy the freedoms, safety, and moments that so often become part of our everyday lives.

While making memories this weekend, take a moment to honor those who never made it home and the families who continue to carry that loss each and every day.

From all of us at the Madison County Fire Department, we remember, we honor, and we are grateful. 🇺🇸

Congratulations Chief Turner! And thanks for being an awesome leader!

Congratulations Chief Turner! And thanks for being an awesome leader!

Congratulations to Chief Turner on 17 Years as MCFD Fire Chief! (That’s a grand total of 40 years with MCFD)

Today we celebrate and honor Chief Turner for 17 incredible years of dedicated service as the Fire Chief of Madison County Fire Department. We are truly thankful to have him leading our department.

His leadership has been one of the biggest driving forces behind our continued growth and success. On scene, you’d be hard-pressed to tell he’s the Chief, unless you spot the dirty white helmet working side by side with the crew. From routine fire calls and MVAs to special ops callouts, *Car 1* is always there. Honestly, we’re still not sure when he sleeps!

Chief Turner, your passion, dedication, and tireless commitment to the department and community inspire us every day. Thank you for everything you do!

Tonight, we were honored to continue our recognition of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial by hosting a live burn training alongside firefighters from across West Tennessee.

This evening was more than training, it was a moment of reflection. As crews worked, we illuminated our ladder truck in red, a solemn tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Every evolution, every line stretched, and every climb carried deeper meaning. We train with purpose, knowing that the skills we sharpen today are built on the legacy of those who came before us, those who answered the call and never returned home.

We remember them. We honor them. And we carry their legacy forward in everything we do.

🔴 Madison County, let’s light the night.

From April 26 through May 3, Madison County Fire Department stations will be illuminated in red as part of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s Light the Night campaign, honoring firefighters who have died in the line of duty.

This tribute is especially meaningful to us as we remember one of our own, Firefighter Chris Blankenship, who made the ultimate sacrifice on May 3, 2015.

His dedication, service, and love for Madison County continue to guide us today. We remain committed to serving our community with the same passion he demonstrated every day.

We invite our community to join us:
