This past week, the Madison County Fire Training Academy had the privilege of hosting Huntington Fire Department for three days of hands-on firefighter training!

During their time with us, our instructors and Huntington firefighters worked together on several essential skills, including SCBA operations, hose line advancement, search techniques, and live-fire training in our burn building. These training opportunities allow firefighters to sharpen their skills, build confidence, and prepare for the challenges they may face in the field.

We are incredibly thankful for the training facilities we have here in Madison County and, most importantly, for the dedicated instructors who give their time and knowledge to help develop firefighters, not only within our own department, but also from neighboring departments and counties.

We also appreciate the trust that other departments place in our academy to help train and prepare their firefighters. Stronger training partnerships mean better-prepared firefighters and safer communities.

Thank you to Huntington Fire Department for spending three days with us! We enjoyed having you here, appreciate the opportunity to train alongside your crew, and look forward to doing it again soon!

🚒 Train together. Learn together. Serve together.

Texas Wildfire Deployment Update

We received a phone call from Chief Turner letting us know that our crews will be headed back to Tennessee tomorrow morning after completing a two-week deployment in Texas.

During their time there, our members have worked hard, assisted with the wildfire response, and answered numerous calls alongside other responders working throughout the area. We are proud of the work they have accomplished and the dedication they have shown throughout this deployment.

Please continue to keep the people of Texas in your thoughts and prayers as they begin the long process of recovery from these devastating wildfires. Also remember the firefighters and emergency responders who remain on scene and continue working to protect communities and assist with recovery efforts.

Finally, we ask that you keep our Madison County crews in your thoughts and prayers as they make their way home to Tennessee tomorrow. We are looking forward to having them safely back home with their families and department.

Extreme Heat is Here
Stay Safe, West Tennessee!🥵

The temperatures across West Tennessee are climbing, and when you factor in the humidity, the heat index can make it feel well over 100°F. These conditions can quickly become dangerous for anyone spending time outdoors.

🚒 Madison County Fire Department wants to remind everyone to take heat safety seriously:

💧 Stay Hydrated – Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Avoid excessive caffeine and alcohol, which can contribute to dehydration.

🌳 Take Frequent Breaks – If you’re working or exercising outside, find shade or an air-conditioned space to cool down regularly.

👕 Dress for the Heat – Wear lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting clothing whenever possible.

⏰ Limit Outdoor Activities – Try to complete outdoor work during the early morning or evening hours when temperatures are lower.

👶👵 Check on Others – Young children, older adults, and those with chronic medical conditions are especially vulnerable to heat-related illnesses. Take a few minutes to check on family, friends, and neighbors.

🚗 Never Leave Children or Pets in a Vehicle – Even with the windows cracked, temperatures inside a vehicle can become deadly in just minutes.

⚠️ Know the Warning Signs

* Heat Exhaustion: Heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea, headache, and cool, clammy skin.
* Heat Stroke: High body temperature, confusion, altered mental state, hot or dry skin, or loss of consciousness. Heat stroke is a medical emergency—call 911 immediately.

Your safety is our priority. Whether you’re working in the yard, attending ballgames, or enjoying time outdoors, take precautions to protect yourself and those around you.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe, West Tennessee! ☀️💧🚒
