National PTSD Awareness Day

Today we honor those living with PTSD and the caregivers, family members, and professionals who support them every day. Healing often begins with understanding and compassion.

💙 Ways to Care for Someone with PTSD:

Listen without judgment or trying to "fix" the problem.
Be patient and understand that healing is not linear.
Learn about PTSD and its symptoms.
Respect boundaries and triggers.
Encourage professional support when appropriate.
Offer consistency, stability, and reassurance.
Remember that small acts of kindness and understanding can make a significant difference.

Tip #6: Generator Safety Reminder ⚠️ (One of the most important, IMO)

If you plan to use a generator this hurricane season, safety comes first.

✔️ Keep generators outside and away from windows
✔️ Never run them inside a garage
✔️ Keep carbon monoxide detectors working properly
✔️ Follow manufacturer instructions

Protecting your family includes protecting them from hazards after the storm.

Hurricane Tips 4 and 5:

#4 Special Needs During a Storm ❤️

Hurricane preparation looks different when caring for someone with special needs or medical challenges.

Think ahead about

🔹 Medical equipment requiring electricity
🔹 Backup power options
🔹 Transportation needs
🔹 Sensory comfort items
🔹 Communication devices
🔹 Extra medical supplies

Preparing now helps reduce stress when a storm threatens.

#5: Check on Your Neighbors 🤝

One simple act can make a huge difference during hurricane season.

Take a few minutes to check on:

• Elderly neighbors
• Individuals living alone
• Caregivers who may need support
• Friends with mobility challenges

Sometimes the greatest preparedness tool is a caring community.

Hurricane Tip #3: Don't Forget Important Documents 📂

If you had to leave your home in a hurry, could you grab everything important in 5 minutes?

Consider keeping these items together in a waterproof folder:

• Identification cards
• Insurance information
• Medication lists
• Guardianship paperwork
• Trust documents
• Medical directives
• Emergency contact information

Being organized can make a stressful situation much easier.

Hurricane Post #2: Medication Matters 💊

One of the biggest concerns during a hurricane? Access to medications.

If you care for an aging parent or loved one, now is the time to:

✔️ Check medication supplies
✔️ Request refills before a storm approaches
✔️ Keep an updated medication list handy
✔️ Know which pharmacy locations remain open during emergencies

A little preparation today can prevent a major problem tomorrow.

Post #1: Hurricane Preparedness for Seniors

🌀 Hurricane Season is Here – Is Your Senior Loved One Ready?

Preparing ahead of a storm can make all the difference. Be sure your senior loved one has:

✅ At least 7 days of medications
✅ A list of emergency contacts
✅ Batteries and flashlights
✅ Bottled water and non-perishable food
✅ Medical equipment backup plans
✅ Copies of important documents

Taking a few simple steps now can provide peace of mind when severe weather approaches.

Happy Father's Day to Two Incredible Dads ❤️

Today I’m celebrating two men who have had such an impact on my life.

To my dad—thank you for your unwavering love, guidance, and support through every season of life. The lessons you taught me about hard work, integrity, and showing up for the people you love continue to shape who I am every day.

And to John—thank you for being such an amazing father. Watching the way you love, support, and encourage the boys makes me grateful every day.

I am blessed to have grown up with a wonderful father. Happy Father's Day to both of you. We love you more than words can say. ❤️

Last Week Round-Up ✨

Some weeks I feel like I barely see the outside world, bouncing between client visits, court filings, phone calls, and everything else that comes with running a business. Then there are weeks like this one—filled with opportunities to step away from my desk, collaborate with both old and new friends, share ideas, and be reminded how much I enjoy connecting with amazing people.

This week included great conversations, new opportunities, lots of inspiration, and a few delicious treats for the ride back to Jacksonville. 🍰☕️

Grateful for the people I met, the relationships that continue to grow, and the chance to do work that makes a difference while building meaningful connections along the way.

Here's to balancing the busy days with moments that refill the cup. ❤️
