Did you know that September is National Recovery Month? National Recovery Month celebrates those in recovery from mental and substance use disorders. At Sulzbacher, we work with clients to help them overcome these things through programs and services.

Duval Family Health Clinic offers behavioral health and addiction resources for the entire community. We help anyone who needs it – no one is every turned away.

Today is a special day – apparently it is “Eat An Extra Dessert Day”. Sounds good to us! We chose an extra cookie from Inside The Box, our catering enterprise. It’s been a full year since we launched our newest short term housing program, the Tiny Homes Village at the 611 E Adams Street campus. The Tiny Homes program offers an innovative approach to helping those with barriers that make it challenging (or impossible) for them to reside in traditional congregate shelter programs. Participants are assigned one of 10 private Tiny Homes while they have access to the Urban Rest Stop for showers and on-sites services as well as daily meals and case management. After a year we can say the Tiny Homes program – a collaboration between Synergy Steel, Sulzbacher, JFRD PATH, and the Jessie Ball duPont fund – is a BIG success.

This week we welcomed almost 80 Florida Blue employees to our Sulzbacher Village and Downtown Campus. They spent the day learning about what we do here at Sulzbacher, and volunteering. They painted walls, built IKEA furniture, served lunch at our downtown campus and more. We love having our great partners like Florida Blue invest their time with us! We are one of three local nonprofits in the running to receive a $10,000 donation from as part of their celebration of meeting 10K followers milestone. Our own staff member Tracy Gebeaux received a full mouth makeover from them as part of 12 Who Care, so they're already heroes in our book - but receiving this donation from them would help change so many lives.
