Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all! This is the weekend to remember and honor those that made us free and are no longer with us.
🇺🇲
On the Road to 100, over thirty years ago, our department assisted in the raising of a memorial to the Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action. It is still here in town, on the Riley Road. It seemed appropriate to feature today.

Please be safe and drink responsibly. Traffic will be heavy for commutes at times. And it is typically a dangerous weekend to drive. Please watch for our fellow motorcyclists and crossing ATVs! Fire Danger is Moderate. Have a wonderful Friday!

It continues to be a very sorrowful month. The following was as released to Jay Fire and Rescue members yesterday evening, 5/20/26:

"It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that Jay Fire Rescue announces the passing of our brother firefighter, Lance Lemieux.
Lance was a devoted member of our fire family who proudly served the community of Jay with courage, compassion, professionalism, and honor. He stood beside his fellow firefighters with unwavering dedication and commitment, and his service and brotherhood will never be forgotten.
Throughout his battle, Lance showed tremendous strength, determination, and faith. Even during the most difficult times, he continued to inspire those around him with his resilience, positive spirit, and love for his family, friends, community, and the fire service.
His passing leaves a tremendous void within our department, our community, and the Franklin County fire service family.
Please keep Lance’s family, friends, and all members of Jay Fire Rescue in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
Additional information regarding services and arrangements will be shared as they become available.
Rest easy, Brother Lance. Your watch on earth has ended, but your legacy, dedication, and spirit will forever remain a part of Jay Fire Rescue.
“Firefighters never die, they just burn forever in the hearts of the people they saved.”
Rest in peace, Brother Lance."

Thanks for the inspiration to keep going and keep being as mentally and physically strong as possible even when your own body is fighting you. Thanks also for the true devotion to family and fire service with a gentle, positive attitude and willingness to participate in all possible. Thanks for showing the importance of embracing every day as fully as possible. We honor and salute you, Sir.

It's the first real feeling of summer! Hope you are staying cool and hydrating. Just wanted to drop a necessary reminder for those with little ones and furry friends today, as our vehicles can become ovens and heat traps unbelievably fast.

Check your back seat always, and leave your furry buddies home on days like totoday.

Jay Fire had an early morning stove fire today. Have a safe day and stay cool 😎 🚒

Our gently used but new to us sign is up, compliments of the Forest Service and everyone who help put it up. It will be updated daily after the state update of danger at or after 9am. It will also have a burn ban sign.

You can find it outside of Station 1 in North Jay.

Over the weekend, we had a minor accident on Community Drive, a mutual aid extrication assist in Canton, lines pulled down on the Hyde Road, and a tree on lines in the 1100 block of Franklin Rd. Extrication Training for Jay firefighters is tonight.
