The new Utility 2 has been put into service. At the last Selectboard meeting, it was approved for the white Utility to be traded in for this vehicle. The white truck was looking at significant repairs to continue to be operational for the long term. It was cheaper in the long run to do this instead, and major thanks to the Town Board for seeing the need and the practicality.

Utility 2 will be housed at Station 2 so that each station continues to have a utility pickup for traffic incidents, brush fires, and any other calls, including mutual aid, where manpower and more basic things are needed. It cuts down on having to bring out the big apparatus if the Ladder and Engine 3 aren't needed. It will also tow things like the boat and UTV trailer.

The lights/siren and bed drawer system were installed by Chiefs Booker and Leclerc, respectively, which also saved money and time. It has yet to have decals put on, but it will be done soon.

Thanks very much to Hight Chevy GMC in Farmington for excellent service.

We look forward to the service we can provide to all of you with this.

Pumps class for Jay Fire was held last night. It was good attendance taught by Chief TD Hardy and Firefighter and Fire Instructor Alan Stewart. Thanks to both of you for lending your expertise and helping the newer pumpers learn one of the most vital jobs on the fireground: Moving Water.

Moving Water is a combination of science, mechanics, and common sense. Without it, there is property and life loss. We have our 3000 gallon Engine One and its smaller sister Engine 3 for a reason in the area, but without knowledge of how to run it, they are only useful for storage.

The risk of severe storms in northern Maine has decreased significantly. There's still some limited risk in central Maine after 6 PM. This is a result of persistent clouds, rain, and wildfire smoke that has prevented the development of instability (thunderstorm fuel).
