It's about paper and pets...

Please mark your calendar for our Wednesday, Sept. 23 document shredding and pet food collection event.

Your garbage is not the place to dispose of your valuable documents which contain personal information that could lead to identity theft. Let Burgmeiers Shredding safely dispose of it that day.

While your prepping paper for shredding, please remember to pick up an extra can/bag/box of food for pets in need at the Humane Society of Cambria County.

The road closure and detour of Route 756 (Bedford Street) between Lamberd Avenue and Random Way in Geistown associated with a drainage system project ended two days early yesterday (Friday). This was originally anticipated to happen this Monday, Aug. 31.

The route remains an active work zone and PennDOT stresses the continuance of caution. Drivers should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.

Aerial power lines and underground utility work between Vo-Tech Drive and Industrial Park Road will continue through Friday, Sept. 11, under standard flagging operations and single-lane restrictions. Drivers should expect lengthy delays up to 15 minutes.

If you drive Route 53 (Railroad Street) between Railroad Street south of Ehrenfeld in Croyle Township and Route 164 (Munster Road) in Portage Borough, please be prepared for delays of up to 15 minutes due to a resurfacing project that should be complete by the end of next month.

A temporary traffic signal near Beyers Road in Croyle Township is restricting traffic to a single lane.

Please drive slowly with extra caution in all work zones, eliminate all distractions and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.
