It's hot and dry please be careful with your trailers don't let your chains drag. 2 small grass fires about 1/2 mile apart on FM 2578 today . 2 brush trucks and Tanker to extinguish. Yesterday hay cutting in field resulted in approx 12 acres burning when they struck some rocks during cutting operations 3 brush trucks and Tanker for water supply and mutual aid from Scurry VFD with 3 brush trucks finally got fire out.

Yesterday afternoon Kaufman VFD was called to hay field fire approx 2 acres as 2 brush trucks arrived the wind got up with some gusts spreading the head fire. Mutual aid from Kemp Vfd And College Mound VFD each with brush truck fire was extinguished at approx 6 to 7 acres burnt of cut hay no round bales were damaged. Kaufman VFD had 3 brush trucks and our 3000 gal tanker Kemp had 1 brush truck and College Mound had 1 brush truck and their tanker for additional water supply. We greatly our mutual aid partners. Kaufman VFD was called at 4:05 pm to garage fire in oak ridge community off hwy 34 n mutial aid was requested from city of Kaufman Fire and Terrell vfd
KAUFMAN city eng 1 arrived on scene to fully involved garage that has spread into a double wide wide mobile home KVFD Eng3 arrived and laided 900 feet of 5 inch supply line from Fire hydrant to establish a permanent water supply to Kaufman Eng 1 Terrell vfd provided manpower and Scurry and Collge Mound vfds also provided manpower due to 100 degree heat Careflite EMS stood by and red cross arrived for occupant welfare no injuries reported Kaufman county Fire Marshals office conducts investigation. Our thanks to our mutual aid partners and please pray for the owners and occupants.

KAUFMAN VFD working large grass/brush fire today on FM 987 west of FM 2578. Kaufman VFD responded at 1241 hours with 4 brush trucks and Tanker for water supply. Mutual aid was requested from Terrell vfd as fire was in their area. When units arrived their were 3 to 4 small fires on roadside with high wind gusts blowing the fire into 2 large stands of 15 to 20 ft mature Mesquite trees and several cedars. Initial attack efforts were on structure protection. Additional aid from Scurry College Mound Elmo Crandall and Combine vfds also city of Terrell responded. Also Careflite ems stood by and Kso and txdot provided traffic control. TEXAS A&M forest service was requested and responded at least 2 dozen crews fire burnt over 80 plus acres

Remember NO Fireworks allowed inside city limits. Attend a professional license show.
Use caution in rural areas don't allow children to use Fireworks without adult supervision. Due to our increase heat and dry weather grass fires are a danger. Keep garden hoses brooms sprayers and fire extinguishers mutiple ones (large ones) ready for use. Use common sense and enjoy your 4th of july

Long Afternoon Saturday for Your Kaufman Firefighters

It was a long afternoon for your Kaufman Firefighters, both City and Volunteer personnel.
Crews were dispatched to a reported vehicle and trailer fire at Highway 175 and FM 2578. City Engine 1 responded and, upon arrival, immediately requested mutual aid from the Kaufman Volunteer Fire Department. Volunteer Tanker 1, carrying 3,000 gallons of water, was dispatched to assist.
Due to the need for additional water supply and manpower, VFD Tender 3 and VFD Engine 3 were also requested to the scene.
Firefighters discovered that the trailer was loaded with bales of cardboard rather than hay as initially reported. Crews worked together to quickly bring the fire under control and prevent further damage.
The pickup truck pulling the trailer sustained only minor damage, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. County Fire Marshal on scene for investigation. Additional volunteers manned Central Station for any additional calls.

Great teamwork by all City and Volunteer personnel involved in the response. 🚒🔥

Your Kaufman firefighters, both paid and volunteer, had a busy night Monday evening.
Crews were dispatched to a residential structure fire on South Jackson Street. City and volunteer personnel responded and quickly went to work on scene. While operating at the first incident, a second structure fire was reported at a local apartment complex. Personnel cleared the Jackson Street scene while additional volunteers responded to the second alarm.
Kaufman VFD Engine 3 and City Ladder 1 responded to the apartment fire. Engine 3 arrived and reported light smoke showing from the second floor, with crews stretching an attack line and beginning fire suppression operations. City Engine 1 arrived shortly after and assumed command.
All occupants had safely evacuated prior to firefighters' arrival. Remaining residents were advised and educated on the situation as crews investigated. Ladder 1 arrived on scene but was ultimately not needed, as firefighters quickly located and extinguished a small fire in a restroom. Salvage and overhaul operations were completed, and all unaffected occupants were allowed to return to their apartments.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the one affected apartment unit. Mutual aid from Scurry VFD staffed Kaufman Central Station to provide coverage while Kaufman units remained committed to the incidents.
Outstanding work by both City of Kaufman Fire Department and Kaufman VFD personnel. Due to the quick actions of responding crews, damage was limited to a portion of a single apartment unit, preventing a much larger loss.
