Recently, families of individuals housed in the La Crosse County Jail have reported receiving fraudulent phone calls from scammers claiming a bond payment is needed for release and directing them to an online payment link. Law enforcement agencies continue to receive complaints about people impersonating officers and demanding payments for parking tickets, bonds, jury duty fees, and similar matters. Law enforcement will never call you to request payment. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be an officer and suspect it is a scam, contact the agency directly.

La Crosse County is seeking individuals to serve on the Civilian Review Board (CRB). for a two-year term. The CRB meets monthly for approximately one hour. Estimated time commitment is between 3-6 hours/month.

We had some excitement at Veterans Memorial Park in West Salem on Tuesday!

A great horned owl fell out of a tree in the park. Thanks to our Facilities Grounds Crew, the La Crosse County Sheriff's Office and the Coulee Region Humane Society Wildlife Rehabilitation team, it was taken in for a checkup to make sure there were no serious injuries. The Coulee Region Humane Society says that he is eating and doing very well.
