6/10/26 - 145 AM Update: We've issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch that's in effect for most of SE Minnesota and portions of West Central Wisconsin (Buffalo and Trempealeau Counties) through 7 AM. A line of storms currently across Southeastern/South Central Minnesota will make its way into our neck of the woods over the next couple of hours. The main threat will be strong to damaging winds through we can't rule out a hail threat.

Posted Tuesday 6/9/2026 4:45PM - Multiple rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms are expected in the region through Thursday. The relatively higher chance for severe storms focuses on Wednesday afternoon and evening when damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes will be possible. Thursday is more uncertain regarding both when and were storms occur, but another couple rounds may affect the area. Make sure you have ways to receive warnings and your shelter identified in case a warning is issued for your location.

*** POST EXPIRED - Please see our page for more up to date information. ***

Severe storms are expected across the region Wednesday afternoon and evening. While storms are most likely to form along and slightly ahead of an advancing cold front marching out of central MN in the afternoon, there is a low chance (20-30%) for storms to form further ahead of this front early in the afternoon. Regardless of where they form, storms will quickly become severe with large hail (2+") likely with more isolated storms. As the storms merge into a line later in the afternoon, the threat shifts to damaging winds (75+ mph). Tornadoes are possible throughout the afternoon and evening, a few of which could become strong (EF2+). The line of storms moves east of the region by late in the evening. Now is the time to ensure your severe weather shelter is accessible, that you can receive weather warnings, and possibly adjust any plans, especially if they are outdoors.

Through 8 PM, there will be the possibility of funnel clouds along the Mississippi River and east into west central and southwest Wisconsin. These type of funnel clouds do not approach the ground and pose no threat to life or property. However, in the rare case a funnel would touch down, it is a tornado and property damage and injury to person could result.
