Although the LPSO's jurisdiction consists of the entire parish of Lafayette, in order to not duplicate services provided by local city police, the primary enforcement area is the unincorporated sections of the parish. The LPSO is CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) certified.

☀️ Reminder: Lafayette Parish has a parish-wide curfew for anyone under 17.

🕚 11 p.m.–6 a.m., Sunday–Thursday
🕛 12 a.m.–6 a.m., Friday–Saturday

This isn’t new. It’s part of an existing parish ordinance. Exceptions apply for minors with a parent/guardian, traveling to/from work, or attending a school or religious event. First offenses typically get a warning; repeat violations can mean community service, juvenile detention, or fines for parents.

Although the 2026 Youth Golf Clinic was canceled due to inclement weather, the Youth Golf Tournament is still on!

We look forward to seeing all of our participants this Wednesday and Thursday for two great days of golf, fun, and fellowship.

Happy Juneteenth to all observing, volunteering, or taking part in community events today. Our Administrative Office is closed in observance of the holiday, but enforcement and patrol services continue as normal. For emergencies, call 911.

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Explorer Academy gives participants a realistic and hands-on look at careers in law enforcement—Last week, Explorers dove into a variety of topics like crisis negotiations, active threat response, building searches and clearing, defensive tactics, proper handcuffing techniques, SWAT operations, physical fitness activities, firearm safety and real-world scenario training.

We’re so proud of the dedication and enthusiasm shown by these young people and look forward to seeing many of them become future leaders in our community!

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office would like the public's assistance to locate Emily Gauthier, 16, missing from Youngsville, LA. (Hair: Brown; Eyes: Brown; Height: 5'8"; Weight: 140lbs)

Emily was last seen on June 10th, 2026 wearing a black top and black yoga pants.
