Ever wonder what it takes to become a Lake Forest firefighter?

LFFD Firefighter Paramedic Jason Rush recently completed an intensive week of onboarding training, building essential skills needed for responding to a wide range of emergencies.

Throughout the week, Jason trained in rescue operations, vehicle extrication, fire suppression techniques, search and victim removal, and other critical firefighter safety procedures. This training helps ensure that our firefighters are prepared to respond safely and effectively when called upon by the Lake Forest community.

Congratulations to Jason Rush for his hard work!

๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ”ฅ Congratulations to FF/PM John Budz on graduating from the Fire Academy! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŽ“

After 9 weeks of intensive training, long days, and plenty of hard work, John has officially completed the academy and is ready for the next chapter of his career with the Lake Forest Fire Department.

To make the accomplishment even more impressive, John's cadre earned the highest GPA in the classโ€”a testament to the dedication, teamwork, and commitment they brought to the academy every day.

We're proud of the effort John put into reaching this milestone and excited to have him back serving alongside our crews.

Help us congratulate John on this outstanding achievement! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿš’

The Lake Forest Fire Department is mourning last week's loss of former Chief Michael J. Beatty. Chief Beatty dedicated 29 years of service to the LFFD, serving from 1975 to 2004, including as Fire Chief from 1996 to 2004. Prior to his career with the fire service, Beatty proudly served in the U.S. Navy with deployments to Vietnam and the Middle East.

Our thoughts are with Chief Beattyโ€™s family and loved ones during this difficult time. His legacy of service will not be forgotten.

The Lake Forest Fire Department is proud to recognize Firefighter/Paramedic Robbie Gleeson for receiving the North Region EMS System Better Together Award 2026.

Robbie was honored for his role in a collaborative response involving Lake Forest and Lake Bluff Fire Departments, where crews identified a life-threatening stroke despite an incident that initially appeared trauma-related. His critical thinking, patient advocacy, and commitment to delivering exceptional prehospital care contributed to a positive outcome for the patient.

This recognition reflects Robbie's dedication to excellence and the high standard of service he provides to our community every day.

Congratulations, Robbie, on this outstanding accomplishment and thank you for representing the Lake Forest Fire Department with professionalism and pride. ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿ…

Future firefighters incoming! ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’ ๐Ÿš’

We were so happy to welcome two special visitors to the station for a tour of our vehicles and equipment. They had the chance to explore some of our fleet, learn about the tools we use, and meet some of the firefighters!

Thanks so much for stopping by! We love sharing what we do with members of our community and inspiring the next generation.

EMS Week is here, and this yearโ€™s theme โ€œImproving Outcomes, Togetherโ€ highlights what emergency response is all about: teamwork. ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿ’™

Every call for help brings together paramedics, EMTs, firefighters, dispatchers, police officers, hospital staff, and so many others working to provide the best possible care for our community. From the moment a 911 call is answered to the continued care at the hospital, it takes collaboration, communication, and trust every step of the way.

This week, we proudly recognize the dedicated EMS professionals of the Lake Forest Fire Department and thank our public safety and healthcare partners who stand beside us every day. Your compassion, professionalism, and commitment make a lasting impact on the people we serve.

Please join us in celebrating EMS Week and thanking the incredible teams who work together to keep our communities safe and cared for. ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿš“โ˜Ž๏ธ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿš‘
