Meet Lakewood’s new City Manager, Jonathan Cain!

After a lot of interviews, questions, reference checks, and community and staff feedback, Jonathan stood out.

He knows Lakewood, loves Lakewood, and brings the energy, experience, and vision we need. I’m especially excited about his ideas around housing, sustainability, economic development, and revitalizing our key corridors.

Council will vote on his contract August 24, with an anticipated October start.

I’m excited to get to work with him and move Lakewood forward!

Lakewood City Council has announced it has selected Jonathan Cain as the city’s new city manager.

Cain impressed City Council with his dedication to the community and his ability to bring people together to build consensus. He showed he already has in-depth knowledge of numerous Lakewood issues and that he will prioritize building relationships, meeting people where they are and working with the community.

Denver Water has declared a Stage 1 drought
Stage 1 drought means Denver Water is asking customers to reduce their total water use (outdoors and indoors) by at least 20%, which will help stretch our water supplies and reduce the likelihood of increasing restrictions later this summer.

Lakewood and Jefferson County have an opportunity to lead by taking stronger action to reduce emissions and improve our air quality. Cleaner air takes commitment at every level, and there’s more we can do right here in our own community.

A new season of spiking ozone readings nearly guarantees Colorado will fail to attain EPA limits, again, and require new sanctions. A public health study shows the damage.

Disappointing news - just another reminder that mergers often result in layoffs. I hope our Economic Development department continues to look for opportunities to increase business activity in Lakewood.
