There is a fantastic free educational living history program that will be hosting their 48th program on September 26 and 27, 2026 at Alley Park in Lancaster, Ohio. The program is from 11 am to 4 pm both days. There is an old-fashioned church service with many period dressed guest on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
The entire country is celebrating our 250th Birthday, Frontier Spirit included! At noon each day we will have a reading of the Constitution with opportunities to sign our very own copy. This year we are again having the living history trail. We will have many demonstrations in the village throughout the day. Some of these demonstrations will include a blacksmith, casket maker/woodworker, broom maker, spinning and weaving, fire starting with flint and steel, bakers, militia, flag raising and lowering, surveyor and a complete guide camp. Also included for the children is a complete area of pioneer toys, arrowhead hunt, scavenger hunt, tomahawk throwing, doll making and quill pen writing. We have wonderful musicians performing in the Marquee Theater and throughout the grounds. There will be “pop-up” skits by characters in period costume. This is just a glimpse as to what you will see and learn.
There is a concession stand with reasonable sandwiches, chips, drinks and our very own open fire kettle booked beans served with cornbread! There is a pioneer bakery available. There are other period items, with many home made available for purchase. The concession stand and many other items are cash only.
