🗞Local Nonprofit Railroad Selected for National America 250 Event🗞

Cincinnati Scenic Railway’s “Spirit of Lebanon” among 32 locomotives invited to historic gathering in Spencer, North Carolina

LEBANON, Ohio — Cincinnati Scenic Railway, the nonprofit operator of the LM&M Railroad and Ohio Rail Experience, is proud to announce that its specially decorated locomotive, the Spirit of Lebanon, has been selected to participate in a national America 250 event in Spencer, North Carolina.

The Spirit of Lebanon is one of only 32 locomotives invited to take part in this historic gathering celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. The event will bring together notable locomotives from across the country, highlighting America’s rich railroad heritage and the important role railroads played in building and connecting the nation.

Created in honor of America’s semiquincentennial, the Spirit of Lebanon proudly represents Lebanon, Warren County and the State of Ohio on a national stage. Its patriotic design celebrates the people, communities and railroad history that have helped shape the country over the past 250 years.

“We are incredibly honored to have the Spirit of Lebanon selected for this national event,” said Ray Kammer, President. “To be included among just 32 invited locomotives is an exciting recognition for our organization, our community and the many supporters who make our preservation efforts possible.”

Following its national appearance, the Spirit of Lebanon will be displayed during the upcoming Lebanon Train Fest, taking place September 12–13, 2026, in Historic Downtown Lebanon. The two-day celebration will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the LM&M Railroad and feature visiting steam locomotives, train rides, live entertainment, railroad exhibits, vendors, food and free family activities.
