We’re grateful for board members like Vice President Carl Eskridge, whose service to Lincoln and dedication to our libraries continue to help shape what’s possible for our community. Carl took some time to share why he believes in the work of the Foundation for Lincoln City Libraries, and we’re so thankful for his thoughtful words, leadership, and continued support.

“After completing 8 years on the Lincoln City Council, one of my greatest disappointments was failing to see a new Central Library to replace our tired old Bennett Martin,” Carl says. “So, I immediately volunteered to serve on the Library Foundation Board, hoping to see this too-long-delayed dream come true.”

When a new pathway for the Central Library began to take shape, it was a meaningful moment for Carl. “The first time I saw the sketches of the space, I knew that this site was perfect.”

Thank you, Carl, for your commitment to Lincoln’s libraries.

Some interns just stand out, and we’d like to thank Ava Glover for the time, energy, and perspective she’s shared with us this year.

Ava has helped inspire students to volunteer with Lincoln City Libraries, while also offering valuable insight into how college students are using our libraries today.

Thank you, Ava, and good luck on your next adventure!

Hearing about the moment a child discovers a love of reading is always special.

We’d like to thank Michael for sharing this story about his son, Jack, and how a visit to the Gere Branch Library helped spark Jack’s love.

“We asked a staff member for book recommendations, and she knelt down to ask Jack about his interests,” Michael shares. “Her enthusiasm greatly inspired him. We ended up checking out three to four books, which he read within 24 hours.”

Since that visit, Jack’s love of reading has only grown. “So far this school year, he has not missed a single spelling word, and his teacher has moved him into a gifted reading class,” Michael says. “I sincerely appreciate Lincoln City Libraries for inspiring Jack and fostering his love of reading.”

Thank you, Michael, for sharing Jack’s story with us.
