Service opportunities abound and groups such as the Green Team and the Advocacy Team involve students in earth-friendly and citizenship initiatives. Bethany's fine arts continue rich histories, including the tenure of painter Birger Sandzén and the longest-running American Messiah performance. Fine arts majors learn to make their passion into careers, and non-majors explore art and music through cocurricular clubs and ensembles. As a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Bethany encourages students to explore and deepen their faiths. With more than 30 years of experience in higher education enrollment, financial aid, student affairs, advancement, and admissions marketing, JoEllen brings a wealth of expertise and a deep commitment to student success. Her leadership experience spans private, public, and faith-based institutions, where she has consistently built strong teams and developed innovative enrollment strategies.

"JoEllen brings exactly the kind of experienced, steady, mission-centered leadership Bethany needs in this important season," said President Laura Crawley.
