Apparently while the Director was gone, Library Staff recruited from Middle-earth.
Legolas covered the desk, guarded the stacks, and (library staff assumes) enforced quiet with precision. 🏹
Very grateful for a team that keeps everything running—and makes the Director’s return this fun. 💜

Legolas cubrió el escritorio, protegió las colecciones y (el personal de la biblioteca supone) hizo cumplir el silencio con gran precisión. 🏹

Important City Update:

Lodi City Council to Appoint Kara Reddig as City Manager 👏

Lodi, CA – The Lodi City Council is set to make history by appointing Kara Reddig as Lodi’s first female City Manager. Following a thorough search, Reddig was selected for the role, bringing more than two decades of progressive leadership in California municipal government and is eager to serve the Lodi community.

“It is a tremendous honor to be selected as Lodi’s next City Manager," said Reddig. "I look forward to working alongside the community, City Council, and staff to continue to grow thoughtfully and enhance the quality of life for Lodi's community members, business owners, and exceptional community organizations."

Most recently, Reddig served as the Deputy City Manager for the City of Elk Grove, where she provided executive oversight of key city functions, including public affairs and communications, community engagement, human resources, risk management, and operations oversight of District56.

“I am proud to welcome Mrs. Reddig as Lodi’s new City Manager. Our city is in a period of evolution, and she will be instrumental in advancing our shared goals,” remarked Mayor Ramón Yepez. “With recent leadership changes, Lodi is well-positioned for progress, and Mrs. Reddig joins us at the right moment. I look forward to the energy and direction she will bring as we continue moving forward. Please join me in welcoming her to our community.”

Reddig’s accomplishments include leading the implementation of Measure E, a voter-approved one percent sales tax passed in 2022 that generates $34 million dollars of ongoing revenue for city services. She also secured more than $18 million in state and federal funding to support capital improvements, enhance public safety, expand library services, and fund homelessness initiatives.

She holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University and, in 2025, received the Career Excellence Award from California Women Leading Government. She is a member of the International City/County Management Association and Municipal Management Association of Northern California.

Reddig has been married to her husband, Tad, for nearly 19 years and has two school-aged daughters. When she’s not serving her community, she enjoys being a sports mom and participating in Toastmasters.

Aaron Busch will remain Interim City Manager until a start date for Reddig is established.

Lodi City Council will vote on Reddig’s appointment at its regular meeting on Wednesday, May 6.
