Reading is Magic is a fun, energetic, 45 minute family program that uses many volunteers and encourages reading. Ed the Wizard's Magic Show demonstrates how inspiration may be found in a book; how a story may change the course of one’s life. Ed began to teach himself the art of prestidigitation with his own childhood collection of magic books and visiting his local library. Today, Ed the Wizard travels the Northeast performing for schools, libraries, fairs, and private parties. Register here: https://longmeadowlibrary.libcal.com/event/16644263

This engaging three-part workshop series invites children ages 5–9 to explore the powerful connection between mindfulness, co-regulation, and the natural world. Through guided, hands-on experiences, children will discover how slowing down and connecting with nature supports both emotional well-being and cognitive growth. Blending art and science, each session encourages young learners to observe, create, and experiment with soil, plants, and natural materials. Children will engage their senses as they plant, design, and explore—building foundational skills in scientific thinking while expressing themselves through creative, nature-inspired art.
