Happy Labor Day from Detachment 040 — Home of the Flying Lions!
Labor Day is the first Monday in September. It honors the American worker and the labor movement that helped build this nation’s strength, prosperity, and way of life. Congress made it a federal holiday on June 28, 1894, so that the country would pause and recognize that contribution.
The Department of Defense is the nation’s largest employer. Every day, Airmen, Guardians, other Military members, and DoD civilians labor to defend the freedom those workers built—often far from home and without a day off. That same spirit of Service Before Self is what we train to instill within our Cadets here at Det 040.
Our cadets study, train, and lead now so they can take their place in that mission tomorrow. Integrity First. Service Before Self. Excellence in All We Do.
To every worker who keeps America strong: thank you.
Stay safe this holiday weekend. Don’t do anything I would do and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do. Extremely thin grey area.
Aim High.
