“I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass… and I’m all out of bubble gum.”
They Live (1988), John Carpenter’s horror/sci-fi cult classic, has long held the distinction of being the most well known and unabashed anti-capitalist Hollywood film, but it has also demonstrated an adaptability to the changing socio-political contexts of American history – finding new audiences for its message in each successive generation since its release.
For this month’s Lens On Life, we’ll be teaming up with DSA-LA for an evening of action, b-picture horror thrills, and political education, as we screen this timeless classic and talk about its relevance to our current political climate.
RSVP at bit.ly/lensonlife13 and join us Wednesday, October 21 for a FREE screening of this timeless classic.
Doors at 6pm, Film at 7pm!
