β€οΈπŸ–€πŸ’›πŸ’š Happy Juneteenth, LA County!

Today we commemorate Juneteenth, the day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates the freedom, resilience, culture, and contributions of Black Americans throughout our nation’s history.

As we reflect on this important day, we honor the generations who fought for freedom and continue working toward equity, opportunity, and justice for all.
In observance of Juneteenth, DEO offices β€” including America’s Job Centers of California (AJCCs) and the East Los Angeles Entrepreneur Center β€” are closed today.

While our offices are closed, resources for workers, job seekers, entrepreneurs, and small businesses remain available online.

🎬 New interim report released.

DEO, the LA County Film Office, and the County Chief Executive Office have released initial findings on the potential economic and workforce impacts of Paramount Skydance’s proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery.

The report was commissioned in response to a March 17, 2026 motion authored by Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath and approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

Key findings include:
πŸ“Š Up to 2,495 local positions may be exposed to consolidation-related workforce impacts
πŸ’° Approximately $82 billion in combined debt
πŸ“‰ More than $6 billion in projected consolidation savings could increase consolidation pressures
πŸŽ₯ Only 1 of 19 theatrical releases reviewed from 2025 was primarily filmed in California

The final report, expected in August 2026, will include additional analysis and recommendations to support workers, businesses, and the long-term resilience of LA County’s entertainment economy.
