#李遠 部長說，剛結束英法文化之旅，才下飛機便得知好消息，繼楊双子之後，平路《東方之東》以英譯本進入美國國家圖書獎翻譯文學獎初選名單。這是平路的《臺灣三部曲》之一，「我一直覺得平路的作品應該早日被世界看見」，她用文學的隱喻和象徵描述臺灣複雜的身世，這樣的寫作風格極具特色和魅力。
更巧的是《東方之東》英譯本的翻譯者程異是國立臺灣文學館英譯工作坊，以及才剛剛啟動和英國國家寫作中心（National Centre for Writing, NCW）合作的導師。

文化部長期推動臺灣文學作品翻譯、出版及國際行銷，並透過國立臺灣文學館、駐外文化單位及相關國際交流計畫，協助臺灣作家與作品進入海外出版及閱讀市場🌎

這次平路作品入選初選名單，顯示臺灣文學在國際文壇上持續受到矚目與肯定，我們期待與作家、譯者及出版團隊共同努力，讓更多臺灣文學作品被世界看見，也讓國際讀者從不同作品中認識臺灣多元的歷史、文化與當代生活❤️

Welcome Guo Yue-Yang (Ljalje'elan Patadalj) to Los Angeles as a artist-in-residence!

🎨 從屏東到洛杉磯——臺灣排灣族藝術家郭悅暘展開駐村創作！

來自屏東的排灣族藝術家郭悅暘 Patadalj Laljeqelan，9月至11月正式進駐洛杉磯18街藝術中心（18th Street Arts Center），展開為期三個月的藝術家駐村計畫！👨🏼‍🎨🇹🇼🇺🇸

郭悅暘的創作跨越錄像、裝置、行為、聲音與繪畫，長期關注身體、勞動、物質文化與地方記憶之間的關係，並從在地與跨國脈絡出發，探討殖民歷史、貿易、遷移與文化交流如何形塑地方知識、集體記憶與身份認同。🪕

在此次駐村期間，郭悅暘將以臺灣、洛杉磯，以及更廣泛的原住民族與離散社群為連結，探索物質文化與歷史記憶，開啟跨地域、跨文化的創作與對話。💬

郭悅暘曾參與2026臺灣美術雙年展、2023原住民族國際南島藝術三年展等展覽，並於2024年獲臺灣南島國際美術獎首獎、2025年入選Pulima藝術獎決選。近年作品亦於北美、亞洲、南歐及紐西蘭等地展出。🗺️

18街藝術中心自1988年成立以來，持續透過駐村計畫支持來自世界各地的藝術家，並提供藝術家深入洛杉磯藝術生態、與當地策展人、學者及社群交流的機會。

期待郭悅暘在洛杉磯的駐村創作，讓更多人看見來自臺灣原住民族的藝術觀點，也期待他在臺灣與洛杉磯之間激盪出更多精彩的文化交流！✨

🇹🇼🎨 From Pingtung to Los Angeles! Welcome Paiwan artist Guo Yue-Yang to 18th Street Arts Center.

Guo Yue-Yang (Ljalje'elan Patadalj), a Paiwan artist from Pingtung, Taiwan, is joining 18th Street Arts Center as an artist-in-residence from September through November 2026.

Working across video, installation, performance, sound, and painting, Guo’s practice explores the relationships between the body, labor, material culture, and local memory. His work also examines how colonial histories, trade, migration, and cultural exchange shape knowledge, collective memory, and identity. 🪕

During his residency in Los Angeles, Guo will explore connections between Taiwan, Los Angeles, and broader Indigenous and diasporic communities, creating new opportunities for cross-cultural dialogue and artistic exchange. 💬

Guo received the Grand Prize of the Austronesian International Arts Award in 2024 and was a finalist for the 2025 PULIMA Art Award. His work has been presented in Taiwan and internationally across North America, Asia, Europe, and New Zealand. 🗺️

We look forward to seeing what Guo creates during his residency—and to celebrating new connections between Taiwan and Los Angeles through art! 🇹🇼🇺🇸✨

2026 Zhongxing International Craft Village | First-Ever Residency Program Open Call!

想讓臺灣文學走得更長、更遠嗎？在文化部的支持下，本處臺灣書院與🇺🇸美國文學翻譯家協會（ALTA）再次合作，在2027年續辦「新銳譯者指導計畫」！本次由曾獲英國筆會年度翻譯獎的知名譯者Natascha Bruce（陳思可）擔任導師，透過為期9個月的指導，傳授新銳譯者文本翻譯、版權洽商與投稿實務，獲指導者並將於2027年11月赴美參加ALTA年會發表成果！

Long Beach歷史悠久的Art Theatre Long Beach將帶來侯孝賢導演《戀戀風塵》與李安導演《飲食男女》雙片聯映，邀請觀眾一次欣賞兩部臺灣電影史上的代表作品。

1986年作品，也是臺灣新電影的重要經典。電影描繪一對來自山城的年輕戀人離鄉前往臺北工作，在青春、離別與時代變遷中逐漸走向不同的人生。侯孝賢導演以細膩而克制的影像語言，留下臺灣電影史上極具代表性的青春與成長記憶。

1994年作品，以一道道臺灣料理串起父親與三個女兒的家庭故事，在餐桌上的日常與衝突中，細膩描寫愛情、家庭與世代關係，也是李安導演早期最具代表性的華語作品之一。

從侯孝賢的臺灣新電影美學，到李安細膩動人的家庭敘事，兩部作品呈現不同世代的臺灣社會與生活風景，也展現臺灣電影走向國際的重要歷程。活動將於兩部影片放映之間安排座談討論，與觀眾一同從電影出發，認識臺灣電影、社會與文化脈絡。

🎬 經典臺灣電影《最想念的季節》免費放映！

國家電影及視聽文化中心 Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute「臺灣電影工具箱」選片《最想念的季節》，將於Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library 免費放映！

1985年上映的《最想念的季節》由臺灣新電影重要導演**陳坤厚**執導，改編自朱天文同名小說，並由朱天文、侯孝賢等共同編劇。陳坤厚曾以《小畢的故事》獲金馬獎最佳導演，並於2023年獲頒金馬獎終身成就獎；主演則包括多屆金馬影后**張艾嘉**與知名音樂人**李宗盛**，幕前幕後陣容堅強。

故事描述在雜誌社工作的劉香妹（張艾嘉飾）意外懷孕後，決定尋找一名男子假結婚，因而認識一直單身的畢寶亮（李宗盛飾）。兩人從原本各取所需的一年婚約開始，在同居生活與日常相處中逐漸產生感情，以輕盈幽默的方式描繪1980年代臺北的愛情、婚姻與女性自主。

映後並將舉行座談，從洛杉磯華埠及聖蓋博谷華語電影院的發展與變遷出發，探討臺灣及香港電影如何承載並保存南加州華人社群的歷史與文化記憶。

My Favorite Season, featured in the Taiwan Cinema Toolkit by the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute (TFAI), will be screened at the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library.

Directed by Chen Kun-hou and adapted from a novel by Chu Tien-wen, the 1985 film stars Sylvia Chang and Jonathan Lee. With a screenplay by Chu and Hou Hsiao-hsien, the film offers a warm and witty portrait of love, marriage, and female independence in 1980s Taipei.

A community discussion will follow the screening, exploring the history of Chinese-language movie theaters and the cultural memory of Taiwan and Hong Kong cinema in Southern California.
