Big feelings deserve real tools, not a quick break.

Eighty-four percent of our students are socioeconomically disadvantaged, and 13% are experiencing homelessness. ABC7's “Tony in Your Town” came to Scholarship Prep South Bay to see how our teachers meet those needs first, from a morning meeting to a stocked resource center and rainbow cart to a calm room built for working through big emotions. Our own 8th grader, Anaya, talked to Tony Cabrera about what it has meant for her.

We're proud of what our team has built here. This is what Creating Community Change looks like. Take a look.

🗞️Our South Bay Scholars are in the Los Angeles Times!📢

Last school year, our campus had a 0% chronic absenteeism rate among our 54 Scholars experiencing homelessness, compared with about 35% statewide.

The Los Angeles Times took a closer look at what’s behind that result, from our Family Resource Center and Rainbow Carts to Morning Meetings, food and transportation assistance, mental health resources, and more than 50 community partnerships.

But more than anything, this story is about a community that shows up for all Scholars and families every day.

We’re so proud of our South Bay team and grateful for the incredible community partners who help make sure our Scholars feel supported, connected, and ready to learn. 💙🩵

Our South Bay Scholars made the news! 🎥

News 1 SoCal visited our campus to see what it takes to help Scholars show up, feel supported, and be ready to learn every day.

From Morning Meetings that give every Scholar a chance to check in, to Rainbow Carts and resources that help meet families’ needs, the story highlighted something we believe deeply at South Bay: student success starts with knowing and supporting the whole child.

Principal Allison Vann and Chief Community Officer Kristen Crowe shared how these supports help our school community address barriers to attendance and keep Scholars connected to school.

As Kristen told Spectrum, “Coming to school is so much more than the academics.”

Thank you to Vania Patino and Spectrum News 1 for spending time on our TK-8 Los Angeles Unified School District campus and sharing our story! And a special thank you to our incredible community partners who help keep our Resource Room stocked and ensure our families have access to the resources they need, including Blessings in a Backpack and the Los Angeles County Office of Education 💙

Albert CEO and Founder Yinon Ravid stopped by Scholarship Prep South Bay yesterday, and Sparky delivered a check bigger than some of our students. 👀🏀

Albert has announced an investment of $130K in Scholarship Prep South Bay: $30K now and a $100K commitment over the next three years. Together with the Los Angeles Sparks, their team built an entire day for our Scholars and their families: a pep rally featuring our dance team, a ribbon-cutting for our freshly refurbished gym, and a back-to-school bash packed with carnival games and prizes.

The goal? Remove the barriers that get in students' way: free school supplies for every kid on campus, free access to athletics and activities that usually come with a price tag, and "Al-Bills” to build real financial literacy through carnival play.

Partnerships like these are what Creating Community Change looks like in action! Thank you, Albert and the Los Angeles Sparks, for showing up for our students for this special event and for the years ahead.

Who let the dog out at our first pep rally of the year? 💜💛

The Los Angeles Sparks' very own Sparky made an appearance to announce a new season at Scholarship Prep South Bay. ⚡

Not only is Jr. Sparks and Tiny Sparks basketball 🏀 coming soon, but our students will have opportunities to participate in volleyball 🏐 and flag football 🏈 later in the school year.

Sparks Fridays will kick off for our 6th graders, introducing fun wellness and team-building activities.
This year, reading gets its own spotlight as the Read Like a Pro program launches thanks to the support of Zespri™ Kiwifruit 🥝, turning every book Scholars finish into something worth celebrating.

We can't wait to see this year's story unfold!

Scholarship Prep South Bay hosted some very special visitors on campus this week. Here's what they saw.

Our Scholars are known here. They're loved here. Our Family Resource Center makes sure support never gets separated from education. Our classrooms are chasing another year of real growth. This campus isn't just a building in Wilmington. It's a partner in Creating Community Change!

Thank you, Councilmember Tim McOsker and Dr. Didi Watts, Chief of Staff to LAUSD Board Member Board Member Tanya Ortiz Franklin, for seeing it firsthand.

Before the first bell, before the first lesson, every Scholarship Prep South Bay student gets a choice: high five, air hug, secret handshake, or even a round of rock-paper-scissors at the classroom door.

It's not just a hello. It's thirty seconds where a teacher clocks exactly how our Dolphins are showing up that day, and meets them there. Some mornings that's a fist bump and a joke. Some mornings it's a quieter check-in.

Every Scholar, every door, every single morning. That's the standard here.

Scholarship Prep South Bay's dolphin had ONE job after our first week of the new school year: Dance. It. Out.

Our staff put in the work to get the campus ready, and our Scholars and families showed up big to begin our first semester.

Enjoy the weekend, South Bay! 🐬
