We’re kicking off our first Latino/a/x/e Leader Spotlight by celebrating an artist who has shown the world the power of embracing where you come from.

Performing primarily in Spanish, Bad Bunny has brought Puerto Rican culture and the Spanish language to a global stage. In 2026, he made Grammy history when DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS became the first Spanish-language album to win Album of the Year.

His story is one example of the many ways the Latin American community has contributed to our shared culture and shaped the world around us. Across generations, Latino/a/x/e communities have enriched music, art, literature, education, science, business, sports, public service, and countless other fields. These contributions reflect a rich history of creativity, perseverance, knowledge, and cultural pride.

🎓 Congrats to our Class of 2026 Alder Teacher Residency graduates! 🎉

A few months ago, they walked the stage to receive their diplomas after earning both a master’s degree and a teaching credential in just one year! Throughout this year, our recent graduates completed rigorous coursework led by the Alder Graduate School of Education faculty focused on effective pedagogy for all learners. At the same time, they received mentorship and support that they applied to their hands-on experience in the classroom. They also developed close bonds with their fellow cohort members that will surely last beyond the program!

Upon completing the program, our Alder graduates received priority consideration for teaching at Bright Star and gained the skills, strategies, and network to be successful educators at their schools of choice.

Collectively, Bright Star high schools rank in the:

🌅 Rise and shine for Rise Kohyang High School's Senior Sunrise tradition! Before the sun rises at the start of the school year, our graduating class gathers at a local park to celebrate their final year of high school.

It's the first of many milestones during senior year. Memories were made, food was enjoyed, games were played, and joy filled the morning. It's the beginning of an epic senior year for our Class of 2027 and we look forward to seeing all the memories they will make this year!

We're off to a strong start! Across Bright Star Schools, our communities have been showing up for one another from day one. Our scholars have approached their learning with open minds and open hearts. Our educators have created spaces where every learner can feel safe, seen, supported, and loved. Our families are finding support in a kohyang that cares.

This year, we're committed to leading by uplifting others across all our schools. We will do this with care, celebrate our progress, and make sure our students and people who support them have what they need to succeed.
