We love any chance to spend time with the Louisville Fire Department!

Engines 4, 21, and fire prevention staff joined us for a tour of Louisville Water Tower. It was a great way to show all the ways we work together today. Louisville Water maintains more than 25,000 fire hydrants across the city, and when a big fire breaks out, we're there. On the flip side, when flooding hits, LFD helps get our employees safely to and from Louisville Water Tower. It's a true partnership — built over 165+ years and still going strong.

We're lucky to work alongside some of the best in the business. Thanks for the visit, LFD! 🚒💧

Can you guess when this photo was taken? 📸

This is the lab where George Warren Fuller made history right here in Louisville, pioneering a water filtration method that's still used around the world today.

Drop your best guess in the comments, then share this with your favorite history group!

Want to see it all in person? Join us for our next open date, Sept. 13, or book a private tour at the Louisville Water Tower. 💧

Louisville once had a battle brewing in the streets — and it wasn’t over politics or baseball. It was over who got to sprinkle the roads.

In 1891, competing street-sprinkling companies fought over territory, accused each other of stealing routes, and took their complaints straight to Louisville Water’s Board. What followed was a surprisingly dramatic chapter in local history known as the “Sprinkler Wars.” Learn more in this edition of and discover how Louisville Water helped settle one of the city’s most unusual disputes. 💧 🚰

Visit the WaterWorks Museum to explore more fascinating stories from Louisville Water’s past.
