Social Media Policy; Welcome to the official social media pages of Lyndon, Kentucky. We use these platforms to share news, updates, events, and information about city services, programs, and initiatives with our residents and community.
Our social media accounts serve as limited public forums for constructive dialogue and information sharing related to city government topics. We aim to foster transparent, timely, and helpful communication. Not every comment or message will receive a response; for official inquiries or responses, please use traditional channels such as email, phone, or the city website.
Guidelines for Public Comments and Engagement
By posting, commenting, or interacting on our pages, you agree to follow this policy. We review content and may hide, delete, or report posts/comments without notice if they violate these rules. Repeated violations may result in blocking or banning the user.
Prohibited Content Includes (but is not limited to):
• Spam, duplicate posts, or comments generated by bots or automated software.
• Commercial advertisements, promotions, solicitations, or links to for-profit businesses (unless officially sponsored by the city).
• Obscene, pornographic, s*xually explicit, or vulgar language/images.
• Threats of violence, illegal activities, or encouragement of unlawful behavior.
• Defamatory statements, harassment, bullying, or personal attacks against individuals or organizations.
• Content that promotes discrimination, hate, or violence based on race, color, religion, s*x, national origin, disability, age, s*xual orientation, gender identity, or other protected classes.
• Confidential, private, or sensitive personal information (e.g., Social Security numbers, medical information, or unlisted contact details).
• Copyrighted or trademarked material posted without permission.
• Off-topic comments unrelated to the specific post or city government matters.
• Any content that violates local, state, or federal laws.
We support free speech and the First Amendment. Legally protected speech will generally not be removed solely because it is offensive or critical of the city. However, we reserve the right to moderate for relevance, civility, and safety in this limited public forum.
User-Generated Content
• All opinions expressed by users are those of the individual and do not represent the official views or endorsement of Lyndon or its employees/officials.
• Users should only post original content they have the right to share. We are not responsible for user-generated content.
• There is no expectation of privacy on social media platforms.
Moderation and Blocking
Social media is monitored during regular business hours. Violations may lead to content removal and/or user blocking. If blocked, users will be notified (when possible) with an explanation and appeal process. Appeals can be submitted in writing to [designated email or contact, e.g., city PIO or admin email] within [e.g., 5 business days]. Decisions on appeals are final.

• For records retention: Official city business conducted via social media may be subject to Kentucky Open Records Act requirements.
