70-80 students from several college campuses in Worcester, Massachusetts gathered together to say GOODBYE👋 to the woes of yesterday and welcome in the joy of the Lord!

This combined InterVarsity event happened at Worcester Polytechnic Institute! It’s a wonderful sight when college students praise God in community!

In college, learning doesn’t only happen in class.

It’s often a chapter where you discover not just what you want to do with your life, but WHO you are.

The InterVarsity students part of the Latino fellowship at Northern Arizona University are excited to find out what God has to teach them this year! In community, they can discover what it means for them to follow Jesus with their whole lives, for the rest of their lives!

“In our LaFe community we strive to create an environment that feels like familia. Not only do we want to grow closer to God but we also want to create a home away from home for students,” said Alma, the LaFe staff overseeing the chapter

Enjoy a sneak peak of Bible study at Marywood University!

The chapter began the semester with the theme, “Feeling the Pressure.”

“We know many students at Marywood are extremely busy and feel the weight of making big life decisions. So, we wanted to study how Jesus handled pressure and expectations in his life.” - Mike, InterVarsity staff at Marywood

29 students showed up to the first Bible study. The space they had chosen was completely full!

To accommodate such a large group, they did observations together and discussed questions and application in smaller groups. Four different students helped lead these discussions!

Students looked at Mark 1:32-39. By observing how Jesus handled his very busy life, the students learned about establishing healthy rhythms of work, rest, and prayer!

Join us in celebrating a faithful InterVarsity staff of nearly 35 years: Joanne Acevedo!

Joanne currently serves as National Director of Interim Leadership and Associate Director for InterVarsity Latino Fellowship (LaFe).

As she celebrates her 35th work anniversary with InterVarsity, we celebrate her decades of impact on the campus and dedication to building up bold leaders, especially among our LaFe students and staff.

Read her tips for ministry and leadership below:
✅ Bring your insecurities to the Lord and remember your affirmation and worth comes from him.
✅ If you’re stuck, ask for help. From your supervisor, your peers, and the Lord.
✅ Prayer is pivotal! Everyone should have an intercessor team (a group of people who pray for you and your ministry regularly).
✅ Don’t play the comparison game. Learn your job and the format that is needed to accomplish the work. Then bring your own unique God-given fingerprints to it, your sazón (seasoning)!

📸 A snapshot of outreach at California State University, Sacramento

From watermelon eating contents to ultimate cabbage, grilling free food, and prayer walking around campus, InterVarsity at Sac State is doing everything they can to draw new students into Christian community.

“In a time of my life when I was running away from my faith, it was InterVarsity’s love, kindness and warmth that brought me back in. And it was their love for Jesus that made me stay.”

When Nicholas started college, faith wasn’t the most important thing in his life. He was ready to be far from home and have a fresh start.

During his first year at Temple University, Nic struggled socially, feeling like he didn’t fit in.

Then, a former mentor from his church youth group, Ian Lucas, encouraged him to try InterVarsity. Although Ian was far away, he would soon become a big part of Nic’s journey.

Through InterVarsity, Nic began studying the Bible with people his own age, something he hadn’t been able to do at his previous church.

And when Nic decided to transfer to Baruch College in New York, InterVarsity followed him there too!

Nic’s mentor Ian had joined staff with InterVarsity in Staten Island and when he heard Nic had committed to Baruch College in New York, he invited Nic to chapter camp for the New York region.

At chapter camp, Nic got to meet InterVarsity students from Baruch before he’d even stepped foot on campus.

After arriving at Baruch, Nic immediately plugged into his new chapter and continued saying yes to Jesus: Yes to serving on the marketing team. Yes to chapter leadership. Yes to leading a Bible study.

“As my positions got more serious, it forced me to get more serious about my faith,” said Nic.
“The best thing to do is just say yes and know that he will equip you for the task that he is calling you to.”

What started as a search for community led Nic to a deeper commitment to Jesus! His story is a reminder that sometimes saying yes to community can be the beginning of saying yes to Jesus.

Now, Nic is continuing to explore what Jesus has for him post-grad, working as a photographer, and volunteering with his Baruch chapter from his new home in San Antonio, Texas.

Join us in praying that students entering college wavering in their faith would be led to life-giving community through InterVarsity and deeper commitment to Jesus!
