Chapter Camp. Mark Camp. Catalina Island. Campus by the Sea.

Over the years, these names have all meant one thing to InterVarsity students: a place to step away and encounter Jesus.

⚠️🌎 World Changer Alert: Over the last week, dozens of new staff joined us at the National Service Center in Madison, Wisconsin, for New Staff Orientation! Praise God!

As they gathered for onboarding, new staff spent several days:
praying
worshiping
studying scripture
sharing meals
learning about our movement
getting equipped for their roles
and seeking the Lord together!

Though they'll serve in different roles and locations, our staff are unified by one mission: to spread the real hope of Jesus to every corner of every campus! 🔥

🙏 Join us in praying that our new staff would experience God’s abundant provision as they continue raising support and preparing to come on staff.

How are InterVarsity alumni fighting for justice?

Troy got involved with InterVarsity because he wanted to see faith put into action. Seeing how his chapter at the University of Puget Sound actively advocated for justice through urban summer projects, he found himself inspired to make a difference in the world.

Troy ended up starting Speak Up, an organization that protects young girls in Bangladesh from exploitation. Speak Up runs tutoring programs, job training, a stipend program to help girls stay in school, and even operates dormitories for those in difficult circumstances. These resources protect girls from child marriages, which often lead to lifelong vulnerability and sexual exploitation.

After over a decade of experiencing Speak Up’s help, child marriage in many villages in Bangladesh is just a distant memory. Instead, it’s becoming normal for girls to stay in school!

Why is international student ministry so important? 🌏🧡

For Andy, it was life-changing! Growing up in Taiwan, where only 7% of the population is Christian, Andy longed to find Christian community when he moved to the US. Then, he got connected with InterVarsity at the University of Utah.

“I felt belonging,” Andy said, excited about the fact that most people in the group were international students.

Once he got connected, Andy became a leader and decided to create a space specifically for international students. He led a Bible study and helped organize potlucks featuring international food.

Their group quickly grew from 20 students to 40! The international students on campus longed for community, and this opened the way for Andy to start faith conversations and show them Jesus’ love!

When the time came for Andy to leave Taiwan and pursue a Bachelor of Science in Biology as an international student in America, he longed to find Christian community.

God loves international students and is meeting them through InterVarsity’s ministry!

After losing her father and moving from the Congo to the U.S., Beeliada arrived at Southern Utah University carrying deep grief and feeling like God had abandoned her.

Soon a persistent friend and fellow international student convinced her to come to an InterVarsity Bible study, where she felt met by the Lord as they studied scripture about worry and anxiety.

Through her involvement in InterVarsity, Beeliada has found belonging, fellow international friends, renewed relationship with Christ, and is now leading others to Jesus!

God works in incredible ways through partnership! 🤝

When InterVarsity staff Christine went Salem Community College in New Jersey intending to prayer walk a campus with no known ministry, she didn’t expect to be called to plant a chapter there.

But God has a way of doing the unexpected.

Christine ended up running into local community members who were passionate about starting a ministry in Salem, and they got to work! Partnering with a faculty member named Irma, Christine launched a Bible study that now has 15 to 20 students and faculty attending!

On a campus of only 1,000, this is nearly 2% of the entire campus community! And God didn’t only use one person to make this happen… he created a team!

This year, Destiny, an InterVarsity student at Salem State University, spent her spring break serving alongside communities in New Orleans impacted by Hurricane Katrina through ServeUp, a program started by InterVarsity students in New England.

Through ServeUp, Destiny saw how service can shape our hearts to be more like Jesus and move us to pursue justice in tangible ways.
