Did you know InterVarsity has a mascot? Meet Gerald D. Lamb🐑

Gerald made a debut at Urbana 22 and gained immediate popularity with students! He has been all over our social media since, participating in all kinds of silliness, like dying his wool InterVarsity orange, frolicking on campus, and briefly dying (he came back to life, don't worry🫣).

Gerald has a pastoral side too! On Instagram, you’ll see him encouraging students to pray and read scripture ✝️

Doing ministry with college students isn’t just important; it’s a lot of fun! We’re excited for another year of joy and laughter, and so is Gerald!

If you have any questions about Gerald, drop them in the comments!

"Building community, and leading a small group through BCM (Black Campus Ministries) has been one of the most meaningful parts of my college experience. I cherish our weekly Bible study sessions!"
–Schekania, InterVarsity student leader at University of San Diego

Now heading into her junior year, Schekania (pictured left) has been serving with her InterVarsity chapter for 3 semesters. On top of securing several internships, working a job, and encountering health challenges, she's found time to prioritize leading others to Jesus! Praise God for her faithful "yes" to serving her chapter!

As students head back to campus, join us in praying that God would continue to lead them to serve and lead sacrificially in their chapters this fall!

It’s leaders like Imari that make InterVarsity what it is: a welcoming, loving community where students can find belonging on campus 🧡

Imari is a student at UM-Flint InterVarsity dedicated to serving both on and off campus. Leading an InterVarsity Bible study, serving on the student government, volunteering at a local homeless shelter, and more, she is always seeking ways to love her neighbors well 🤲

As Imari pours out the love of Jesus on others, she’s been able to offer help when other InterVarsity students need it, whether it’s helping with homework, giving advice on big decisions, or just providing a space to talk. What a blessing she is to her community!

When Sara found InterVarsity, she found the welcoming, supportive community she'd been searching for.

Through her discipleship in InterVarsity, she deepened her relationship with Jesus, learned to trust Him with every area of her life, and found the encouragement and accountability she needed to keep growing in her faith.

Jesus invited people to “come and see.” So can we.

He made invitations to unexpected people and invited his followers to healthy rhythms of rest and ministry, and HOW he invited was just as important was WHO. Jesus’ love and compassion allowed him to confront areas of brokenness, idolatry, and pain in people’s lives.

Invitations happen throughout ministry. A healthy culture of invitation can help us practice generous hospitality and sustain us when inviting gets tough!

"The only way I felt God was when I was with people who had God living in them." –Ashley, student at Scripps College

Ashley came to college with no faith background. But on the very first day of school, she sat next to Grace, and that choice led to an invitation that changed her life.

Who might God be calling you to invite this week? Maybe it's someone you sit next to every day, like a coworker or neighbor.

Take a moment today to pray that God would open your eyes to the opportunities around you and that InterVarsity students would make bold invitations for Jesus as they return to campus.

When does success become an idol?

Ray, a PhD student conducting research in an Ivy League medical school, faced a lot of pressure from his demanding studies in experimental research. He feared that if he didn’t publish something, his career and worth would amount to nothing.

But God called him not only to pursue his PhD, but to make an impact on his campus through his involvement with InterVarsity. So he learned to change his perspective.

“I had to put my career on the cross,” Ray said. “God will take care of me even if I don't have success, and I have to be okay with only having God.”

Once his worth stopped coming from his work, Ray started to see his studies as a gift. Instead of overworking to secure his future, he is entrusting himself to God and investing in community too!

Read the full story:

Despite his academic strengths, starting college was a struggle for Ray because he moved away from his close-knit friend group. However, one day he unintentionally sat down at a table where a group of Christian students gathered for a ministry meeting. ...
