=============
The way we get and pass along news has really changed. In the digital age, anyone can publish anything on the internet, even if it’s completely false. 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐭 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩, 𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟒, 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐯𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐫.

The first hour will delve into how technology has made it easier to create and spread misinformation. We’ll discuss tools to evaluate news sources and review helpful fact-checking sites. You’ll learn why it’s important to read and check your sources before sharing!

The second hour will be an interactive workshop reviewing the ways you can identify misinformation online. You’ll get hands-on practice using fact-checking sites to evaluate and debunk false news.

Our July 15 virtual Triad program is A.I. and Consumer Protection and will be presented by Ben Merens, an Outreach Specialist at the Division of Trade and Consumer Protection, Wisconsin Dept of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP).

Ben will begin with a brief history and overview of Artificial Intelligence (AI) leading up to today's complex Large Language Models (LLMs). The presentation will explore the pros and cons of AI and how this developing technology impacts consumers. Additionally, the presentation will cover modern threats; specifically, how generative AI has empowered scammers to expand their reach with deepfake videos, convincing phishing scams, and much more.
