🎓💜💛 Congratulations to the Madison East High School Class of 2026! 💛💜🎓

Tonight at the University of Wisconsin–Madison Kohl Center, we celebrated an extraordinary group of graduates whose journey has been marked by perseverance, growth, leadership and community.

As graduates crossed the stage and moved their tassels from right to left, they celebrated not only a milestone, but also the friendships, experiences and lessons that have shaped them along the way.

Thank you to the families, educators, staff and supporters whose encouragement and dedication helped make this moment possible.

To the Class of 2026: wherever your next chapter leads, carry forward the spirit of East and continue making a positive impact in the world.

🎓 The celebration continues this weekend for the MMSD Class of 2026! 🎉

Join us at the Kohl Center as East, La Follette, Memorial and West High Schools honor their graduating seniors. No tickets are needed — all are welcome! Ceremonies will also be livestreamed on the MMSD YouTube channel (MMSDtv).

Senior Spotlight: East’s Miracle Rainey Balances School, Leadership and a Growing Business

Showing up –– even through hardships –– has become a defining part of Rainey's high school experience. Whether she's leading teammates as a cheer captain, supporting younger students or helping build community through student groups, she's spent the last four years investing in the people around her.

Rainey spent three years on East's cheer team and served as captain during her junior and senior years. She participated in Sisterhood, a group that supports and celebrates a culture of Black Excellence at East High School through discussions, service opportunities and community-building activities. She also helped coordinate Black Girl Magic programming and joined a girls mentoring group led by an East staff member.

Many of the activities she gravitated toward focused on connection and support.

"I feel like a lot of African American women sometimes struggle with identity and community," Rainey said. "Let's build community. Let’s support one another.”

After graduation, Rainey plans to continue growing her business while pursuing a degree in business administration. She's considering several options, including UW-Milwaukee and Morgan State University in Baltimore.
