We hope you are enjoying these last days of summer and getting ready for another wonderful school year! The Lake View Student Services Team is excited to share the following community events and resources that may be helpful to you and your family as you prepare for the 2026-2027 school year. We encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities and resources to help your family start the school year feeling prepared and supported.

(While we will not be distributing school supplies at this event, families who have already secured supplies through community resources or on their own are welcome to bring them to school when they meet their teachers.)

The countdown to the 2026–2027 school year is on! Starting August 5, MMSD families can complete online enrollment for students in all grades.

Returning to MMSD or joining us for the first time? The enrollment process is simple and fully online.

Don’t forget—every student must be enrolled every year. Complete enrollment for each child and get ready for another great year with MMSD!

📅 Mark Your Calendar—Online Enrollment Opens August 5!

It’s almost time to enroll for the 2026–2027 school year! Online enrollment opens August 5 for all MMSD students in every grade.

Whether you’re a returning family or new to MMSD, you can complete the entire enrollment process online from wherever you are.

✨ Incoming 4K families: You can enroll now! 4K enrollment is already open, so there’s no need to wait until August 5.

Remember: Every student must complete enrollment each school year. Be sure to enroll each child for the upcoming school year.

🚨All MMSD & MSCR summer programming for students will be canceled on Friday, July 17🚨

Smoke from wildfires in Canada and Minnesota is expected to continue to reach Unhealthy (Red) to Hazardous (Maroon) air quality levels through noon on Friday, July 17. Because of this, and due to rising temperatures, all MMSD and MSCR summer programming for students will be canceled on Friday, July 17.

🎒MMSD summer programming courses for elementary, middle and high school students, including virtual courses
🎒MMSD/MSCR Summer Recreation & Enrichment Center and Youth Resource Center programs
🎒MSCR summer camps & community programs
🎒MMSD athletic practices and programming
🎒Access to all MMSD buildings and grounds, including for staff

Summer meals will continue to be offered at MMSD’s comprehensive high schools. Please locate the high school nearest your usual meal service site for continued summer meal service.

We're Hiring a Reading Tutor at Lake View! 📚

Do you love working with children and want to make a lasting difference? We're looking for an Ampact AmeriCorps Reading Tutor to join our team for the upcoming school year! This position is for 35 hour/week position and includes school breaks off!

Our reading tutor works with the same group of K–3 students every day, building meaningful relationships while helping them become confident, successful readers. Being part of helping students grow in both their reading skills and their confidence throughout the year is one of the most rewarding parts of this role.

As an Ampact Reading Tutor, you'll receive:
- A living stipend
- An AmeriCorps Education Award to help pay for future education expenses or qualifying student loans
Paid training in the Science of Reading and ongoing coaching throughout the year
- Meaningful experience in education and child development

This position is a great fit for someone who:
- Lives nearby and is looking for a rewarding opportunity close to home
- Already has a connection to the Lake View community
- Is considering a career in education
- Wants to earn an education award to help pay for college or reduce student loan debt

🚨 Weather Update for Tuesday, June 30
Due to forecasted extreme heat (heat index of 95–108°F), all MMSD elementary summer school classes are canceled on Tuesday, June 30.

✅ Middle and high school summer semester programming will continue as scheduled.
🍎 Summer meals will still be available at MMSD comprehensive high schools. Please visit the high school nearest your usual meal service site for meal service.
☀️ MSCR Summer Camps are canceled. Other outdoor MSCR programs may also be canceled in accordance with weather guidance. Participants will be notified directly of any program changes.

The safety of our students, staff and community remains our top priority. We will continue monitoring conditions and share updates as needed.

Please follow National Weather Service heat safety guidance: limit time outdoors, avoid strenuous activity, stay hydrated and keep cool.
